  • It's amazing, it really is

    It is amazing how often you fix a computer and as soon as the user gets it, it stops working or they have all of these issues that you never experience or when you look at it everything is fine but then when the user uses it, the PC is unuseable.

    I'm getting tired of this.

    You don't suppose it's a case of the PC commitiing suicide rather than living in the same house with a total moron?

    I mean, computers have feelings too . . .don't they?

      That is quite possible. Just had another one. PC was working fine yesterday, now it isn't.

        All you need to find is the common denominator between the PC working and not working. If I had to guess, the problem is an ID-10-T end luser error.

        But maybe I'm just being cynical and pessimistic again.

            My old computer was the opposite. I brought it into the compy store I worked at... and it wouldnt' boot up for them.

            The fans would spin, then stop. Then nothing. They had to play with the back AND front switches to get it to boot.

            I noticed they had used another power cord, not my own, but they ignored me when I suggested it.

            When I got home, I plugged the thing in and it started (With my power cord)

            I still dont get it.

              Pretty simple actually. Their power cord is plugged into and unplugged from a lot of devices in the span of the day. (Towers, Printers, consoles, etc) and the connectors just get bent out of shape from it. Yours ont he other hand doesn't move around a lot, so it stays put.

                  A good tech will listen to everything, even though somedays it feels like our brains are committing suicide or bleeding out of our ears.

                  A few times I have been unable to get a computer to work on the bench. and it ended up being something stupidly simple that just wasn't registering for whatever reason. This has included;
                  -power cords that won't work with one machine, even though it would work with countless other machines.
                  -a known good testing power supply not working, but one fresh from the sales shelf works great.
                  -a random cable getting caught in the fan and the machine overheating, etc.
