No, I was only involved in pronouncing the death of the mouse. Nothing (except the mouse and the charger) was harmed, and no one was hurt. I guess the user put fresh batteries in it end of the day Friday, and finally put it on the charger, and it blew over the weekend.

thats good, while i jokingly talk about whacking (l)users for stupid stuff, acid burns suck huge. had only one in my life but it was enough, i got some battery electrolite from an a/c battery on my arm, it was only there for a min before i got it off, but it burned like i had touched a lit cig. i dont wish that upon anyone.

I have two of those "cradled" mice. They're actually very convenient because you *don't* have to change the batteries.

On the flip side, one of the pairs of alkaline batteries in my good headlamp (literally, it's like a caver's lamp but for cycling) decided to leak and go bad at some point. I can only assume they got wet or something.

So I have a compartment full of green crystal fur, and the other batteries will have to be used for something else that only needs a pair, because I can't put them in with a fresh pair on the other side. The two pairs are in separate compartments, which are effectively strapped against my head when I wear them - keeps them warm if nothing else.

My wireless mouse, from Logitech I believe, merely uses regular AA batteries, which have to be taken out physically and recharged like normal AA cells are. For several months I was doing this regularly until I just got plain tired of the battery running out in the middle of something (sometimes work, sometimes a game) and just swapped it for a VERY cheap wired mouse.

I still have it in a drawer... and I suppose if I ever need to control the computer from 30ft away, it will be handy but otherwise...

Have you tried NiMH rechargeables? I use those in my wireless laser mouse (Microsoft branded, but it fit my hand, don't kill me!) and only have to change them every six weeks or so. And I'm not exactly an infrequent user.
