I believe the operative phrase is "get in line". There's a LOT of people that want to turn the writer inside out literally.

Wonderful. I've been fortunate not to run into this one yet (knocks on user's head). Here's hoping I don't have to deal with it.

Just gave my mom a heads-up about this (I have also been fortunate to not run into it yet)...she is now praying that her crazy ex-boss gets hit.

If I'm right, my mom got hit with this at work. I need to check up on her and see if they decided to go with a full restore, or if they were able to use a removal tool.

Luckily she backed up right before it hit, so she didn't lose any work.

Unluckily, she works for a church, so she's reliant on volunteers to maintain her computer. She's learned how to do most of the normal maintenance herself over the last decade of working there. And this happened when I wasn't up there, so I couldn't really help her much.

I've been trying to educate a few friends to no avail. Now I'm wondering what I can get away with charging for removal. I don't think there's a removal tool for the new version yet.

I can see myself writing an article about this in the future.

That damned worm (for worm it is) brought down our entire corporate network of 30-40 servers and approx 200 workstations this past TUESDAY. We are almost over it. And it happened when one (count 'em - 1) infected laptop was connected onto the network!

                OUCH!

I've noticed a bit of general net slowdown, nothing past that (of course, all the computers I'm responsible for were patched awhile ago).

I've not had anything show up on my computers here at home.

My old desktop hasn't been turned on since Sunday and it's needing a reformat. So I'm not worried about it. I'll do that on Friday evening (unless I feel froggy tomorrow evening after work.)

My brother has updated the Avast on his desktop yesterday and has been running periodic scans - so far he's had nothing show up.

I did maintenance on Gypsy (my Dell Inspiron) late Saturday evening/early Sunday morning. I did Disk Cleanup, Disk Defragmenter (needed to speed her up a touch,) ran AdAware, HikackThis, Malwarebytes, AVG scan AND Monday evening I ran the MS Malicious Software Remover Tool.

                        Nothing detected.

Overkill, perhaps. But with my computers, an ounce of pretention is worth a pound of manure.

So did anyone get caught by this? I haven't seen anything about a major outbreak. Even our usual bunch of virus buddies here at work haven't reported issues. Was it another Y2K scare, or did I just miss the apocalypse?

i think all that happened was 60min over hyped it and it just changed where it phones home to.
