So I come back to work after the weekend to a real mess.
The server that almost everyone in the organization uses is showing two bad drives in the array.
This is a work stoppage issue, and it affects every user in the org. Much suckage ensues. I did manage to get one of the bad hard drives to work temporarily by reslotting it to the array. This gave me and Boss enough time to rebuild the other drive in the array, then we rebuilt the one I got to work again because it could have died again at any time.
Yeah, we should have had a backup server, but its out being rebuilt--we're actually already running on the backup plan.
"Running on Spit and Duct Tape" isn't just a saying here.
Sad thing is, as rare as it is supposed to be for two drives in the array to fail at the same time, I've seen it happen twice before at other places I've worked. Figures I'd be able to beat the odds on the bad stuff happening.
