  • WTH am I getting these work orders?

    Quoth work order 1
We are having*problems with our* system in the dining hall.* I*have been in contact with the company but they*can't seem to be of any help.* Is there anyway someone could come over and look at this and see if there is a problem on our end.* I have bar codes and the meal-time booklet in the office.
    Quoth AA's note
it is the bar code scanner that doesn't work. I advised we will have a tech come in first thing in the morning but it will most likely be a problem. They can manually input the bar codes tonight so they can get through dinner.
Why am I pissed? We don't even OWN this computer! It has nothing to do with us! Food service is run by a separate company. We just give them space and a network connection. We do not supply the computers or have anything else to do with them. I don't know the first thing about their system or bar code scanners.

And then, knowing all this, the AA still gives it to me!

THEN!!! I go over "first thing in the morning" and find no office staff to A: let me into the office to get the manual and test bar codes or B: show me how it's supposed to work and how it's not working. It's kinda hard to troubleshoot something that you don't know how it's supposed to work or can't make to not work.

Then, following on the heels of that work order is one of my FAVORITES..., a staff member who thinks we can drop everything and work on her precious' computer.

    Quoth Work order #2
's computer is malfunctioning and cannot be booted up. Please put her on the list for repairs. She will bring it by in the morning. Thanks.
Um... no. We state in a LOT of paperwork (and I know, since I wrote it all) of what we will and will not do with student computers. This is a big, blaring example of what we will NOT do. This is everything we will NOT do in a nutshell. If you extracted what we will not do down to it's component parts, you'll have this... and an apple. Why an apple? Why not?

And it's like we're supposed to ignore all that because it's a staff member. Um... no. So now, I have to wait for little precious to come in, and watch the PC fail to boot, and say, "I'm sorry, but since it's not network related, there's nothing we can do. If it's still under warranty, you can call the manufacturer." Then she'll throw a fit because Mommy said we'd fix it. Then I'll have to apologize, and repeat myself until she goes away, and then do the same thing when Mommy calls all pissed off.

Then to make matters EVEN BETTER, I'm hungover from my 3 day headache, and I have a work order for a mac. I don't mind work. playing on my mac, but I don't like doing crap on other macs. They just suck. Sorry, GK.

    So, bleh.
