At my place of work, we really need to up our bandwidth. With the addition of several new security cameras at remote sites that use the network to transmit video to the security center, we're running close enough to capacity that when the inspectors trasfer their pictures at the end of the day, it brings things to a creep. We've had to set up a freestanding computer with giant (2TB) drive attached for them to use so they don't have to go accross the network for it.
My boss sent up a request last week to basically double our available bandwidth, which would fix us for now and allow for future additions. The headman of the organization promptly shot it down. I've heard no explanation as to why.
Today I got called to the board room for "equipment failure." I fixed the issue by turning on the Headman's wireless mic.**
Our budget request got shot down by a guy who can't turn on his own wireless mic.
**I'm one of a two-man IT department. Somehow we're responsible for any technology in the organization. Except the office all-in-one copiers. We've stood adamant that they keep those on service contract. If it's not a networking issue (you can print directly to these copiers), its not our problem.
