  • I hate this more then anything!

Two weeks ago you get a letter in your mailbox and yesterday an email saying

"You will be getting a new computer and flatscreen monitor on XX-XX-XXXX after hours. Please clean up the area around your exsiting computer and mointor. Etc..."

today we get this email into helpdesk.

"I am very upset that whoever installed my computer moved stuff around or my desk. Now I can not find anything I need to do my job, and this made me late for a deadline. I do not aprecieate this at all in the least. I have filed a complaint with my supervisor over this matter."

I asked the tech in question if he killed her first born or somthing. He told me that her desk was 2 inches thick with paper filed using the stack method . To free up all the cords and such he scooped up entire stacks and placed them out of the way on the floor.

Sounds to me like an asshat with poor time management skills who wouldn't have met the deadline anyway, and just wants someone to blame.

This person's boss should reprimand them for being a moron.

Seriously. You got a NEW computer and had fair warning. NOT the tech's fault, and if it was one of my employees I would not be too impressed.

      Bonus

      Same user

"What is this Outlook 07, I do not use this software. I only use Email XP. Correct this now, I do not use this software. If I can not use the correct software I can not do my job."

She got a swift reply back "no" and another copy of using_Office07.pdf

"This is ridiculous! I do not use this software why are you forcing it on me. I want Email XP back now! I will not take No from you I am trying to do my job. I need my email I do not know how to reply and and send new email with this. FIX THIS NOW."

Forward to my boss, her boss and HR. Fireworks times.

Bolded the important part of the communication.

Dare I hope this came via email?

Well, my own desk is 3+ inches deep in paperwork. Also sorted using the 'stack' method.

Of course, I know where everything is and can put my hands on it in less than 30 seconds on demand.

It's not so much 'lack of time management' as not enough time to manage. In January, I had a full time job. Then they laid off the IT manager, brought him back 12 hours a week as a contractor, and dumped the other 28 hours a week onto me. But, I'm not allowed overtime, so I have to do 68 hours a week of work in 40 hours or less. They would prefer less, since clearly I can perform miracles in bending the laws of space & time to their whim. Or not, as my desk can attest.

The end user could be in the same sort of situation.

I doubt it, but just to play devil's advocate.

But I bet you would pay attention to a notice to clear your desk if you were getting a new computer/monitor! And I'm pretty sure you know how to send email using Outlook. ^_^

...really? i mean...really? that almost makes my brain hurt. did she not understand that by sending that very email she was invalidating her own point?

"Understand" doesn't seem to be in her vocabulary.

That takes a special kind of "genuis" to be able to send out an email claiming you can't figure out how to send an email from the very same program.

My head hurts from reading that. Send migraine pills. . .
