Bad dream just cause it's not quite a nachtmahr.
I was just reminded of this after about a year. At my first college, like most anywhere else, we were given glorified Hotmail email accounts using the Live Labs (I believe) license. Being someone who doesn't like browser based email, I of course set it up for Thunderbird. But wait! Following all the instructions given, I can only receive email, I can't send! Odd, I thought, so I tore it down and set it up again, only to run into the same problem.
6 months go by with me unable to send email from Thunderbird on that account until I get fed up with it and trawl their help database until finding the ONE place that they mention how ports should be set up for the account. And I can send emails. And it was good.
