I keep getting people reading the blog from this forum which is amusing, I must say. Hello everyone! I'm not Nurse Ratched, by the way. On medical stuff, I'm always 'Nurse K'.

Why is that first kid even allowed to touch a computer? That's just scary.
Because his parents are too stupid and lazy to parent him properly. Newsflash, Mommie Dearest, "no" is not a Bad Word!

The first kid is looking at a pretty dim future. Unfortunately, stupidity is job security for tech support.

They both are "medical" professionals who write prescriptions for each other or for themselves,
            Is that even legal?

And asking him to stop, and telling him it "hurts her feelings" doesn't work.
I seriously doubt that this charming young man gives a rodent's posterior about her feelings.
The viruses did work, alright. Made the computer completely unusable, and nothing was backed up. The tech took pleasure in doing a system restore. Bye-bye data!
When I worked for a comp repair place back in the Windows 9x days, we had a regular customer - older gent - who would bring back his virus-ridden comp EVERY MONTH with the same issue, namely, so many viruses that his comp would barely boot. Naturally, he had no clue why this kept happening, as it had nothing whatsoever to do with all of the porn he kept downloading (daily) from various "free" sites (You know you have a bad habit when even my boss stopped bothering to *ahem* examine his porn folder for data that needed to be backed up before wiping the system, after awhile). We actually made a w98 restore CD specifically for his system just so we could get it done faster >_>

Depends where you are. In this state, prescribers are allowed to write prescriptions for themselves IF they keep a chart on themselves in their office. I would guess that family members are covered by the same provision.

(It's still the pharmacist's responsibility to determine whether the prescription is medically warranted, just like any other script, and refusing to fill it if not. Telling a doctor you won't fill his own prescription isn't all that easy to do; expect him to threaten not to send any patients to you. As the said patients are likely to all be junkies anyway, given the doctor's prescribing habits, this is probably a good thing.)

I still deal with these folks almost daily, and I've taken to hiding from the mother. She has decided that *I* am the person to complain to about EVERYTHING, from Staples "not fixing the problem" to "but my doggy goes everywhere with me, she needs me!" to "the pharmacists are so unfair!" to "the school is so unfair, they suspended my darling!"

I am not a manager. She knows this. 9.9

T-minus 18 days until I leave the pharmacy for COLLEGE! (Gotta keep Staples for insurance.) Arcadia University, here I come!

I have an update on Kid #1!

Turns out that "someone" anonymously called the school to report the continued looking at rape pictures, since his mother had mentioned him still accessing them at school. He was apparently caught red-handed again, EXPELLED, the other students with him given counseling (with a couple other suspensions and detentions), and a letter sent home to parents. The filter has also been tightened a bit to check flash drives as well.

His mother is claiming she voluntarily pulled him from the school because they were "too harsh" on her precious son. He now goes to the local private school, and is on probation there. One major violation, and he's gone. Said private school is affiliated with the public one.

My manager is at the point where he's just showing the kid how to fix his own damned problems. He's tired of the kid claiming he knows what he's doing, then coming back and complaining it's broken. I make sure I stay nearby, cause the mother often leaves during these sessions. Even though its up front, our store tends to not be very busy. Last thing we need is the claim that we taught the kid something illegal, or anything else of that nature. (And I don't put it past the kid to say my manager touched him or something. :P)

                    Here's to just desserts!
