So a few years back now, I was working as 1st line user support for internal applications. Or- whenever the customer service team had an issue with their order entry systems (or more likely a UMTS error) they would come to me. I was only responsible for certain systems and despite their best efforts was not involved with anything regards to the hardware, or email or the MS Office etc- they all had to go through the regular IT helpline.
The number of mails I used to get from them saying only 'My SAP doesn't work' without any further details or screenshots of the error message they were supposedly getting.
I'd also get quite a lot of emails asking 'Can you come over and fix/install this on my PC' despite them sitting less than 100 steps away from me. Of course when I went over they'd gone to lunch or were out on a break so I'd reply with my extension asking them to call me back when they were available. Any further emails were deleted if they really couldn't be bothered to pick up the phone or come find me.
My favourite one of all though was the guy who sent me an email with an attachment of something that had installed itself on his desktop and he didn't know what it was and he couldn't get rid of it. So not only was it nothing that I could actually help him out with because it wasn't my area of responsibility, the file was called 'abcdef.virus'.
Thanks a bunch for that! Why would anyone think that was a good idea? Luckily I didn't have any problems- it didn't infect or affect my PC but I went straight to his manager and reported his gross stupidity. That particular user was in his own league of special.
