Annoying problem with new tablet

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and a Digital Treasures-brand bluetooth keyboard/case. Love the keyboard, but whenever I start to type with it, the Samsung on-screen keyboard pops up, and the connection to the wireless keyboard is dropped.

Is there a way to stop the touch-screen keyboard from popping up all the time?
