  • Android phone froze

My Android phone froze while I was playing a game. I've tried holding the power button down for 30 seconds (a little over a minute, actually) with no results. Any other suggestions? The only other thing I can think of at this point is to hope it runs out of power.

[edit:] Found some advice on restarting a frozen Samsung ... it worked. I'm thinking of deleting this stupid game. Much as I like it, it's not worth the increasing aggravation it causes.

Most games are not worth it when you think about them.

On the power button thing -- Not all phones power off the same way - that would make too much sense. I upgraded last summer to a new droid from the same manufacturer as my last one, and the power-off button was something like "hold down volume + side button" where the old one had been "hold power button;" I had to dig into the options to change it to the old way. Glad you found a solution.

As a (almost) 'universal fix', there's always pulling the battery for 2 seconds. No power, no freeze. Unfortunately, there's a few models where the battery isn't meant to ever be replaced, requiring tools to get out.

Actually, all phones do have removable batteries. It might take industrial grade equipment to do so, but they are removable.

Replacing that battery is an entirely different problem.
