Firefox won't access webmail

First it started off with my Yahoo account, and now I can't access my gmail account. I have to use IE tab, or IE itself (yuck!) to get my email?

I've deleted cookies, the cache, changed passwords, etc.

Anyone have any idea why this is happening, and what I need to do to be able to read my email again?

can you give more details, what happens when you try to log in, do you get a blank display? an error message? page can not be displayed error?

i've noticed this with the recent update. It usually works for me after I close the browser with the File --- Exit route and then a shut down and restart of the computer. Only had to do this twice and since the second time it hasn't done it again.

Oh yeah.. Details would be good.

All it does is send me back to the log in screen. That's it. No 404, no blank pages, no log in errors. Nuffin but back to the log in screen.

One more detail question I should have posed, what version of Firefox are you using? can be found under help > about firefox the version number is usually on the very last line.

Knightmare, I'm running Firefox, and I've never experienced that error...

Only thing I can think of would be uninstalling and reinstalling, seeing if it helps.

Another thing to look into is have you installed or changed (updated) any add-ons lately? Perhaps an extension is causing a problem.

I've seen an issue liek this before and it turned out the date on the computer was set wrong. It was causing the system to think the cookie was expired and kicked it back to the login screen.

This was going to be my suggestion. I can't get Firefox to duplicate this problem and I'm running the same version of it at home. I can get it to duplicate this if i have the noscript plugin disallow my webmail service, but thats the only time I can do it.

I haven't heard of this problem but... all that means is that I have limited experience . if it's shoving you back to the login screen that implies to me that something is interfering with the login process. I was going to suggest something that resets the settings for HTTPS but I can't seem to find that option myself. I guess one thing you can do is activate firefox's safemode which basically resets everything to default for a session (you can make it permanant) and see if the behaviour continues... hmmm... I swear I had more suggestions when I hit REPLY...

P.S. I like crashhelmet's suggestion about the clock. Cookies/certificates all function by being valid for XX minutes or XX hours... set by the server's clock.
