  • Netwok?

I need to know if its possible to map a network drive over the Internet. Please let me know how to do this if possible.

    Thanks,

Yes, it is. No, you don't want to do so without a lot of prep work. Without that prep work, you're going to open up both sides of the connection to a whole world of viruses, trojans, and jackasses.

    So, the super short version:
1: Get OpenVPN up and running on both computers, along with an OpenVPN server to act as the gateway.
2: Now that both machines are on the same network (thanks to the magic of VPN), you can map their drives like they are across the room from each other.

What Pedersen says. Use a VPN, or a specialty program like Go To My PC--You can get a free 30-day trial for a temporary use, 45-days if you have a promo code (try 'Neal' without the quotes. ). I'm using them now for a project, so I'm familier with them, but there are others out there.

Perhaps consider setting up the comp that's storing the data as a password-protected FTP? Or, better yet, if you have online Hosting of any sort, see if it has FTP space available.

Why not RDP into the remote computer and access the folder there?

Are these both your home pc's? Or work?

At the risk of sounding like a pompous ass:

Netwok? Is that a Chinese cooking vessel that has an Ethernet connection?
