This window popped up and won't go away

When I started my computer today, a window opened. The window heading is C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe.

And it won't go away. Clicking on the X does nothing. I opened Task Manager and tried to turn it off that way. Nada.

What is it, and what should I do?

CMD is the command-line interface. Can you type in the window? If so, try typing 'exit' (without the quotes) and press enter. That should close it. If that doesn't work, might try rebooting in case something just got stuck.

It didn't work. I have to go offline now anyway; we'll see what happens the next time I turn on the machine.
