Sorry but I dont see a "murder" here. "Murder" is intentionally killing someone. I really dont think it's a good idea for the courts to toss that around so casually, because then it will get to the point that parents will be scared to death to take their injured kids to the hospital out of fear of leaving out of the ER in a pair of handcuffs and never seeing the sun ever again outside of a caged prison yard, then that'll just end up hurting children instead of protecting them.

But here's the thing. If they'd actually bothered to get help BEFORE the child died, that would be one thing.

These morons waited until it had already keeled, was literally just skin and bones, and THEN took it in.
If that's not willful taking of someone's life, I don't know what is.

In my world, not feeding a newborn baby for 6 weeks is intentionally starving the child.
The only words you said that I understood were "His", "Phone" and "Ya'll". The other 2 paragraphs worth was about as intelligible as a drunken Teletubby barkin' come on's at a Hooter's waitress.

Didn't it say they fed him??? They fed him soy milk and misunderstood the difference the soy milk and soy formula are NOT the same thing. If that's the case then they're not murderers. They're a couple of ignorant dopes that probably couldn't even care for a puppy.

I just hope that the jury convicted with fairness, not anger.

In any baby's development, they are supposed to gain weight, not lose it. If the baby weighed LESS than a preemie at the time of death, then the parents are not ignorant, but down right idiotic. I don't have kids and even I know that! Just from reading magazines, books and the internet.
With the amount of information that is freely available these days, and the myriad of different products, there is no excuse for parents to starve their children to death because they couldn't be bothered to do any research on their lifestyle as it pertains to babies.
As for the definition of murder, I believe they fall under that definition.

            5. to kill or slaughter inhumanly or barbarously.

Starvation is one of the most inhumane ways to die.
I'm not gonna post any more on this thread. Bad things happening to kids makes me see red and I cease to be a rational person.

I believe they are most definitely murderers. They chose not to take their baby to a pediatrician for well baby visits. They chose to not do any research into feeding a baby a vegan diet. They just did whatever they wanted and figured it would be OK.
I'm sure there are plenty of good vegan parents out there who have healthy kids. With proper research, they might even have found a vegan doctor or nurse to teach them proper pre- and post-natal care.
In this day and age, there is no excuse for that baby's death.

I personally did not know there was soy based formula. Now I know.

Not necessarily. I'd term it negligent homicide. "Murder" implies they had planned to kill their child in cold blood. I just think they put their child on that diet because that was what they ate, that was what they believed in, and didn't know it was at odds with what a newborn baby needs nutrition-wise.

I dunno IPF. Granted, they may not have planned their baby's demise, but if your NEW BORN baby is losing weight instead of gaining it, do you:
                      a) take it to the doctor
                      b) ask your parents for advice
                      c) ignore it

If you choose C, then you're as bad as a murderer. You had a chance to fix the problem, but didn't. That's when it stops being an accident, and becomes deliberate.

I'm assuming that they probably had doctor's appointments during the pregnancy. Did they not think to tell the doctors they're vegans? And how to apply their lifestyle to their baby's nutrition? Did they not think to go to a library or bookstore to see if there's literature to that effect? Did they not think of going onto the internet and finding out more about how their lifestyle would affect their baby?

Quite a few friends of mine are pregnant or have new borns. Throughout their entire pregnancies, they read every piece of baby literature they could get their hands on. They interrogated their doctors mercilessly. They bugged their mothers for advice. Now, if 6 people that are not related in anyway, and all have different lifestyles and religions could think of doing that, what was stopping the vegan couple?
