I think, can't say if it's been tested as true however, that people that have certain skills in school or just intelligence in things don't have that great of social skills and are just outright bored in school. I was held back in preschool because of lack of social skills (yet was still in school with people my age - month of birth I guess allowed for it).Quoth AdminAssistant View PostI was BORED. My parents never wanted to move me ahead because they wanted me to stay with my age group (and I really didn't have the social skills).
Back when I was in school I was between 2-4 years ahead of my current grade. Some things I did so easily I never had homework (in later years) as I could do all the work in class. I was out sick from surgeries one year -- teachers sent homework with my tutor -- she came and gave me homework. Did it in 15 minutes, she was shocked and gave me more. Gave it back within another 10. Asked for more and she said "there isn't any -- that's the entire semester's worth!" The teacher just gave me an "A" and didn't give me any more - it was obvious I knew it. English took me longer, but I was smart enough to get an "A" on a book report that the teacher herself had read and loved, and said I knew it well ---- I never read the book, I skimmed part of one chapter and winged it.
Some people do well in some things, others not so much. I wish schools actually taught people to improve what they did well, and didn't bother as much with other subjects. I always hate to see someone be highly skilled in one subject - but be held back from taking more advanced things because they can't do others as well (like an "all or none" philosophy or something).
