The Princess Bride, 25 years later

I like this movie only cause I love the book. I'm 25 and was less the 6 months old when this movie came out. But my sister got me to read the book when I was a tween and I loved it. I own it on DVD but I may have to put the 25 annivery edition on my christmas list.

I know I'm going to be drawn and quartered for this, but will someone explain what the big freakin' deal is about that movie? I just don't get it.

In short, it is a movie that knowingly makes fun of various fairy tale tropes (Shrek would do this again several years later). The characters within the story, to varying degrees, are in on the joke.
