Right now my hair is just barely an inch below my earlobes and most of it is much shorter than that, so there's nothing to put up.

Odd, my hair is nearly waist length and it's almost never up. I got to where I was tying it up every night as a teenager, but the loss was unbelievable. The vacuum cleaner even broke a couple of times and when Dad would take it apart, yup, looooong red hairs all in the brush.

That and having it restrained at all during my sleep is very irritating to me I just usually toss it back above my head and forget about it. Maybe because I use a lot of conditioner (both in the shower and leave-in) but it almost never tangles to where a simple pin brush won't undo it.

It's actually getting really heavy and it gets pinned behind my back when I sit and I'm kind of hankering to cut it, but there are dozens of people screaming NO whenever I mention this

My hair is really thick and heavy. If it gets past my shoulder blades it causes headaches. I decided when I entered nursing school it would get cut short and short it would stay. Nurses have to deal with too much yuck, much easier not to have to worry about it getting in my hair! Plus, the short cut is so light and freeing! My sister and my mom both have hair down to there. My mom keeps hers in a bun during the day and a braid at night. My sister only puts hers back for work because they require it. The rest of the time it's down and loose. Even when I had long-ish hair I couldn't stand for it to be on my neck. Made me so hot!

And you hadn't figured out that people LOVE to tell other people excruciating minutiae about their lives?

I realized this at work today, and it was quite the epiphany. Get someone started on their dreams, or their dental work, and you'll be there all day.

Mine's thick and heavy, too. Nonetheless, I joke that knee-length is my goal. Probably I'll just try for top of the thigh.
So tonight it's muggy outside and was very hot, but I still had my hot tea. AC and a fan....
