I am a huge fan of just having a spoon full of Nutella or Peanut butter. It's odd how a TBSP of either can be so filling.

Though I do have some good Energy Ball recipes if you want. It's like trail mix in a the size and shape of a doughnut hole.

I mean it depends on how you feel about dates.

This one uses Peanut Butter as a base. I like it best. Mostly because I don't have a food processor.

This one use dates. But you can still add chocolate chips and stuff.

The peanut butter ones are better if you don't use Natural peanut butter.

I also know a few ones with Mango or other fruit bases Like this one, though it's raw vegan. Then again, all of them are no bake.

Dark chocolate is good and has some health benefits. Also not as many carbs as other chocolate or candy. My father, who is a diabetic, likes dark chocolate almond/cherry clusters he finds at Costco, they are quite good. Remember, too, chocolate in general is not as sugary or bad for you as fruit flavored candy. Jelly beans, gummy worms, red licorice, Jujubees, all that stuff is the worst kind of candy to have. Hard candies are another good choice--three Jolly Ranchers only have 17 carbs total. Frozen yogurt in limited quantities is another choice that is better than the alternative, ice cream, which is generally bad for you. Chocolate covered nuts are another good alternative. And don't forget fruit and cheese eaten together can be quite good, and there are some cheeses that are considered almost dessert like. Cheddar, for example, is excellent with some fresh grapes or apples.

We used to make a snack called ants on a log..it was peanut butter in celery topped with raisins. Filling, not too sweet and easy to make

I find my snack cravings come in a few different varieties

crunchy - roasted soyabeans are my favorite, and adding spices makes even yummier, I like pepper, paprika, or cajun spice (although that one is high in salt)
              - I second popcorn, sprinkle with grated parmesian or once popped put in the oven for a few minutes with black pepper and lime juice, you can add a little orange juice and zest if you want sweeter, bake until its crunchy
              - crackers and salsa
or make a dip for crackers or veggies by putting one clove of garlic peeled in a ramakin (sp?) with a teaspoon of butter in the oven for 10-15 minutes, until it is soft enough to mix with a fork, great with peppers, celery etc. It is not near as garlicy as it sounds like it will be. Be brave and try it before you knock it!

spicy - roasted cauliflower, I know it doesn't sound like a snack right, but I love it in front of the tv at night, slice cauliflower about 3/4 inch thick slices, paint with a tiny bit of oil, sprinkle heavily with spice, roast at about 425 F until it starts turning black on the edges
              - vegetable chips, slice potatoes, carrots, parsnip, or any root vegetable you like really thin, throw in a bag with a teaspoon of oil and some of your favorite spices, place single layer on a baking tray and bake until crunchy. These have to be really really thin, or they end up 'mealy'

Sweet - None of these is healthy, but sometimes you just want something sweet, don't keep reading if you really only want healthy
              - the easiest peanut butter cookies ever - 1 cup peanut butter, 1 egg, 1/2 - 2/3 cup icing sugar (change to your taste), mix and bake (around 350 F, around 10-15 minutes). I've had better, but for fast and easy these cant be beat
              - And my favourite sweet snack, everytime you make a pie, save that little bit of left over crust dough in the freezer, when you want a snack roll a small ball out to about three inches wide, spread with nuttella (or you can use peanut butter) cover with sliced strawberrys, blueberrys or whatever (you can even use marmalade in a pinch) bake at 350 until brown
Pain and suffering are inevitable...misery is optional.

Be brave? With garlic? Me? Are you serious?

I'm one of the most culinarily adventurous people around. And I love garlic. I practically worship it, and use it in many, many things.

As for yor snack here, sounds good, but you say it's not as garlicy as it sounds. To me, though, it doesn't sound garlicy enough!

I like to do something similar but with cream cheese instead of peanut butter.
At the conclusion of an Irish wedding, the priest said "Everybody please hug the person who has made your life worth living. The bartender was nearly crushed to death.

I like to eat sugar bomb cereals for dessert. Even the worst ones have some redeeming qualities. A small bowl of Lucky Charms or Captain Crunch generally satisfies my sweet tooth. If you don't like the sweet stuff, then maybe something like Crispix or Chex would make a decent snack.
Chocolate Chex with milk is good for a snack. Half the pieces are coated with cocoa powder. (I don't recommend the vanilla Chex, though; I don't know if it's the vanilla or the sweetener but it tastes fake.) I like Lucky Charms and Crunch Berries once in a while, too.

                    or Dannon's Oikos,
I like the vanilla; when I had some good nectarines a couple weeks ago I cut them up into chunks and used the yogurt for dipping. The other day at work I chopped up a couple Hershey Kisses and sprinkled that on vanilla Oikos.

My mom likes to make dessert out of some cut up fruit and yogurt with crushed graham crackers sprinkled on top. And sometimes I make chocolate "fondue" by nuking a cup of Jello pudding and dipping in whatever (usually bananas).

Some nights I'll have hot chocolate and cinnamon toast, or English muffins with butter and jelly.
