That's one of my options when I retire. Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, Texas, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona are all options I'm looking at.Quoth Jester View PostFlorida beckons.

Why wait? Why be miserable for that long? I never understood this line of thinking. Probably the hedonist in me, I guess.Quoth Victory Sabre View PostThat's one of my options when I retire. I've got a business to run here, and to try to make it as successful as possible to make the most off of it. If it weren't for that, I would have already left.Quoth Jester View PostWhy wait? EDIT!
I got to work at the gas station (even though I no longer own it, I still work there for the new owners), and there was a decent amount of snow in the lot. I get out the shovel and start clearing where people park to come in to the restaurant station, and bait store. It took about 2 hours off and on.
I go outside to clean off the sidewalk from the snow that blew in and looked at the lot - it was clean. I asked the new owner if he had it plowed. He didn't. The wind is so strong it blew all the loose snow in the lot away (some of it wound up on the sidewalk). I was shocked.Last edited by Victory Sabre; 01-26-2014, 08:51 PM."Life is tough. While we have had some colder, windier, more unpleasant days, today was a lovely January day in ole Key West. After I went to the monthly artisan food market, I took a bike ride and had some beers at some bars. Along the bike ride, snapped some pictures that I thought you folks might enjoy. (For some reason, on my iPad I can only do one image per post, so I apologize for the multiple posts.)
Happy Winter!

Winter has been joined by power outages here in lower Michigan. In the past week we've lost power twice (only for an hour each time.)
My favorite has to be a few weeks ago, however. When we were trying to figure out whether or not my sister's school was cancelled. Our power was out. Our internet was out. We had no cell phones. The RADIO had no internet or power (I assume it was running on a generator.) So I took her to school anyway.
A janitor (whom I adore) asked what we were doing here, since the school was closed. I asked him about whether or not the school had lost power at all (though I knew it was on then)... just as the lights turned off.

That is one of many places I'm looking into. One big advantage: I could meet the awesome Jester in his home environment.Quoth Jester View PostVic, today Key West was the warmest place in the nation, and not for the first time this winter.
Just saying.

My parents originally were going to move to Arizona in 86 before I was born. But my mom didn't want to move while pregnant and my grandpa got really sick, so that plan went permanently on hold, and that's how I got stuck in this shithole of a freezer.
My parents have been talking about moving there or somewhere in the same climate now that my brother and I are older and as soon as they pay off the house and get it looking good to sell. I said I might just tag along and stay with them until I get my own job and whatnot down there.
