  • dendawg needs prayers, badly

As some of you may know, I left my wife in late 2009 and have been staying with my mom couch surfing.

Well today everything just went to a bigger level of hell. My mom went to KY to visit with her brother and sis in-law, and literally a couple hours ago I get a call from my sister saying mom's heart stopped and she's in ICU.

This coming as I was preparing to apply for help for me. My ex-wife actually suggested that I 5150 myself if the worst happens, even though I haven't been having suicidal thoughts. (yet)

Right now I'm alternating between , , and . Please keep my mom and I in your thoughts.

Sorry about your mom, but, if you're having any potential for suicidal thoughts, you've got to take care of that first. I hope your mom makes a full recovery.

      Sending prayers.

Right now don't listen to your ex-wife. You need to sit down and start looking for your mom's paperwork in the event the worst does happen. You need to find her life insurance, her health insurance, any bills in her name etc. and start getting organized. A heart attack does not have to be the end of the world. And some people do recover. You need to find out if your mom does recover if she can be transferred to a recovery hospice close to home or if she qualifies for in home care.

      Try to be positive.

....And it just keeps getting worse. Just talked to my mom's sister in law and apparently she'd had some kind of chemo treatment (tho not for cancer, whatever that means.) and had proteins attack her heart, and seems to be what made her heart stop. in-law also said that doctors said if she recovers from this, it'll be a miracle.

My mom's always been secretive, but why this would be kept from me is a mystery. I know it shouldn't matter at this point, but this revelation has rocked my world, and only succeeded in making me even more upset and confused.

What kind of a failure of a human being suggests you kill yourself if something awful happens?

5150=going crazy I think (correct me if I am wrong). I think his ex-wife is telling him to declare himself crazy, not kill himself.

I'll keep you and your mom in my thoughts.

My deepest sympathies dendawg - one of the toughest losses to go through, I know.

Take things as slow as you need to, watch out to committing to things you wouldn't ordinarily, grieve as you see fit, and remember that those around you are likely sincerely trying to help, even if they sometimes get it wrong, ok?

It's sort of a rollercoaster right now, with me doing the most crying when I talk to somebody about what happened. I honestly don't know how I'm going to react at the viewing before the funeral.
