It's getting a little bit confusing around here trying to figure out which questions are still "live" and which have been solved (in fact, on the first page - I'm set to view 20 posts/page, someone even tries solving a pre-solved one and it gets pointed out to them).

I'd like to suggest the following rules for this thread:

- When you re-visit this thread after posting a puzzle, and someone's made a guess, let them know whether they're right or wrong (someone has made a post after I guessed one of their questions, and no indication as to whether I was right or wrong).

- After a specified period of time (how long should that be?), give the answers to any unsolved puzzle you posted. For a couple examples, both the OP (in post 26, gives answers to the questions in post 1) and myself (post 3 - I tried to model it after "multiple items for sale" threads I've seen on other boards) have done this.

- Identify whether a puzzle is "live" or solved (again, post 3).

IA - That may count, too. Did the kid get special powers? I remember that show, but I didn't watch much of it. The one I referenced (Out of This World) has it such that the kid's powers are the major focus of the show itself.

Don't know, I never saw it. I saw the movie just knew the premise of the TV show. Never saw Out Of This World either.

3) A show where a pilot has to deal with pirates and unrequited feelings for his boss.

2) Admittedly, this one had several possible answers. But the ones I was going for were Almighty Johnsons and Young Hercules, both of which starred Dean O'Gorman (amongst several others, thanks to New Zealand's tiny acting pool).

OK quoting myself here on these two since it's been a while.

1. This show is way more popular in the UK than in Australia, despite being made in Australia. (They get it about 6? weeks behind)

2. This show once had versions in Australia, the UK, the US, South Africa and Sweden.

3. THIS show is still running, but has also had Australian and UK versions, which were much less successful.

3. Wipeout, although I think it's been retooled.

1. This show managed to outlive Chicago Hope (which it was up against at the time)
2. Has managed to outlive its original show along with all the other spinoffs.
3. Was originally set up as a spinoff to another show, but now has 2 other spinoffs of its own and 1 of those spinoffs had planned to have its OWN spinoff but was canned.

2. Law and Order SVU.
3. NCIS, which was a spinoff of JAG. NCIS in itself has TWO spinoffs: Los Angeles and New Orleans. Los Angeles in fact planned on having its OWN spinoff called Red Eye (from memory) but that was canned and instead retooled as a general NCIS spinoff.

Not what I was going for, but that works, too ^_^ I was thinking of Get Smart (hence my intentional exclusion of the chiba, which would have allowed Inspector Gadget, Maxwell's spiritual descendant)

Maxwell Smart was not a detective at all, but a spy. He was certainly incompetent, bumbling even, but somehow managed to get the job done, often with the help of (or directly because of) his fellow spy, the lovely Agent 99. Or due to the opposing spies being even more incompetent and bumbling than he was. Often both.
