I had figured Beyond Earth (After Earth wasn't accurate) was Alpha Centauri mapped to the Civ V engine, where Endless Space is an interstellar 4X style...
And Metacritic was giving Endless Space a 77%, although the negative reviews are pretty on topic...
Pretty much everyone I've seen playing Civ:BE had come in with the same expectations. Most went back to play Alpha Centauri instead and described BE as a Civ V mod.

With Endless Space, when it came out it was fairly buggy, unbalanced, and had various other problems. Most of the reviews say to play it with the expansion or not at all, mainly because the expansion turned it from the mediocre mess that it was to at least a decent game. I would say at it's current price it's worth it if you want it though I would say there are better options.

This has been sooo much fun. I get way more invested in it than Civ. Will admit that I wish there were a bit more explanation in the tutorial, but that's because I want to play my games, not do a bunch of reading to figure out what things should be researched next. :/
I want it so badly, but my video card is only 512mb, and any spec system I use says the game really wants 1gb.

As for Endless Space, I'm going to keep it on my "think about" list, but if I don't go for it, I'm not worried. I'm beta testing another space 4X right now, and should probably concentrate on that one.

      BTW, level 6800 and climbing.

Maybe I've just been in the wrong games >_< Mine just hit 1050, and nobody on my friendlist is on one that's even broken 1000 (tho one was at 1500 yesterday before they were all smooshed at once). And I was so happy about finally being able to hit enemies for 500k per click, too >_>

And speaking of friends One of mine gave me Ys:Origins and SanctuaryRPG: Black Editon. The former is a prequel to the venerable Ys action-adventure game series (with its traditional kisk-ass music); the latter is a modern take on ASCII-art first-person-view RPGs. Still in ASCII, just more detailed ASCII, with an absurd amount of in-game documentation via the help system. It's done as a Roguelike, with permadeath.

          .
I noticed that it might be based on when you join. First day I joined late and barely hit over 250, second day I joined earlier and got 500, 3rd day I got in right at the switch and we hit 1500 something.

Mine finally reset this morning. Got something like 700 to spend on buffs for the next game...

Why, why, why do platformers intrigue me so much? I always suck at them...

Btw, does anybody want/need a copy of Civ V God and Kings? I got an extra in one of their GotY releases and everybody I know already has it.

Newp, I already have all of Civ V.

Another day, another twelve bucks or so...

Ys: The Oath in Felghana; Shadow Warrior (2014) Special Edition; Shadow Warrior: Classic Redux (which is vastly cheaper than the game it's a refinement of, oddly); Bioshock 2 (no idea how I had not owned this up til now)

Actually, I don't have Gods and Kings. Never got around to getting it... I'd be interested...

Oh yeah -- no idea why I still have this laying around, I think I got this from one of the old Steam bonus deals years ago: Anybody want a free copy of Supreme Commander 2 (sci-fi RTS game)? not sure if the voucher works, but yer welcome to try it, as I'm not interested in it.

New daily sale set is up...Why the hell is FF4: The After Years (a DS port) more expensive than any of the other games in the franchise? o_O

                            Two things:

                            1) The After Years on Steam is not a DS port. It uses the same engine as the 3D version of FF4 but it's previous releases were on mobile systems. The After Years is a later story from the original FF4.

                            2) The After Years was a fairly recent release on Steam (roughly a month ago) while every other title on the list is significantly older (FF13-2 being the next oldest at 6 months ago).

Ahh. my bad. I saw the preview and the first thing through my mind was "This is a DS game"

Okay man, what the hell? Am I just jaded, or does this scream "probably expliot" to anyone else? (see screenie)

I've seen a few games like that. Highest in my friends list right now is 14,896.
