Re: The Ancient & her Toilet Trouble, the problem is my CW is the type for whom inertia is her biggest problem. She just doesn't like to make waves. Granted, her health issues mean she often doesn't have the energy to do it, but she's also convinced the apt management people won't do anything because Old Lady is, well, an Old Lady, and one of the original residents of the building. That wouldn't stop me, after the first time I'd have been like a lunatic, demanding they do something. But that's not CW's personality, and I'm DONE trying to fix everybody else's problems. At least she talked to her attorney about it (or said she would, IDK).

Whelp, I got to experience the problem outlined in a sign.

A sign was put up telling us what to do if someone parks in our spot. I went to visit my parents and play Settlers of Catan and what do I find when I get back? Douchebag Mercedes in my spot!

I sicced the parking authorities and towing guys onto him. Oh yes, I did.

Ooh, sweet. I always wanted to do that whenever I'd come home to find someone parked in my spot, but even when living in complexes with assigned parking, the tenants weren't at liberty to sic towing on them. So Hubby and I just had to leave a note under the windshield wipers pointing out that the spaces were, in fact, assigned (see the numbers painted on them?) and that visitor parking was just over there and plenty empty.

There is all of maybe ONE INCH of snow outside and so of course, of course!! My asshole neighbor is running a big-ass ginormous snowblower - which is currently PARKED outside my dining room window burning gas while he messes around with a shovel. Even with my windows shut I can smell the exhaust from this beast.

I could clean his entire yard and driveway in five minutes with a BROOM and this idiot thinks he needs a plow big enough to clear Minnesota.

The plus side of owning instead of renting... I have a piece of paper that says I own that stall. MINE! So I don't need anyone's permission to sic towing on them, hehehehe...

One complex I lived in was like that. They had all the Agra signs up BUT did little to enforce (alas no permits or anything of the like). Calls to the complex manager went totally nowhere.

HMMMM park in MY spot -- WELL I just parked right behind them (yeah I was partially blocking the right-of-way) and waited until someone came a screamin. The other option was as my assigned spot was on the very end of the section I parked as close as possible to their driver door so at the very least they had to get in from the passenger side door or come a screamin.
I'm lost without a paddle and headed up SH*T creek.

Sweet! I could've probably leaned out the window and done it

This of course does not in ANY way condone such vandalism

                  No, really.

I would hope you wouldn't actually do something like that. We don't condone vandalism or any other illegal activity here.

                          • I just want to go to bed but you have to have super-loud conversations at 12:44 am. It really sucks being connected to 4 apartments at once. I can't even tell which of you it is.

                            • To the couple next door - you guys aren't sucky neighbors, but next time you have work done on your house, please let the contractors know that they are supposed to take their construction-related trash away, NOT put it in the dumpsters in the alley. They tend to fill the dumpster up, making a further walk for everyone else until the trash gets picked up.

                              • Either answer the fucking door or call the cops. This guy has been knocking on your door for several minutes now. Loudly!
I have a friend with a daughter 10 years younger than me. I noticed that the daughter and her 3 boys lived with my friend, and I never see the daughter's husband (it's because he works, duh, I should have figured that out). So I asked my friend about the daughter living with her.

It happens my friend has a nephew. When the daughter lived in an apt. with her family, this nephew harassed her daughter by coming by, acting creepy when her husband was working. Now they don't want to do anything about the nephew (ie, call the cops) so not upset the mom of this nephew (who doesn't live in state). Now the daughter did move to another apt. but the guy was still coming by, acting creepy.

I live in Houston, which has no zoning laws (well, there are few, like no tittie bars x feet from a school), so there is a concrete business by my house. Sometimes it's 5 am and they start being noisy. Annoying, but it's bullshit when one morning at 4 someone turned on the music. I called the cops, and the music turned off. I don't know why they also decide to blow leaves at 6am. Most businesses move out because they can't expand on the lot they are on, so I'm hoping they move.
Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.
