It finally stopped a few hours ago. The official total for Harrisburg was 30.2 inches.

My wife and I went outside and started shoveling as it was tapering off. We managed to get about half the driveway and part of the sidewalk done, and then we had enough. I guess we'll have to finish up tomorrow, assuming we'll even be able to move.

This morning, TWC was all frantic about the "state of emergency" in NYC, with ankle-deep snow.

I'm sure people in Minnesota and Wisconsin think that's adorable.
Given that I've got snow in front of my house hear in Fairfax County, VA, that comes up past my knees (and I'm 6'2"), I think that's adorable.

I'm 5' and this stuff comes almost up to my knees...no me gusta. We live on a road that connects a highway and a road that goes up a mountain--however the mountain is populated by massive amounts of Big Christian University students, which the BCU takes excellent care of including keeping immediate areas clear, so maybe the road will be cleared by some actual city workers soon since the BCU's area is clean. Who knows.

Looks like I probably won't be able to get to work. Given that there's two feet of snow in the neighborhood streets and they're still struggling to get main roads clear.

On the one hand, that means I'll be able to watch the Royal Rumble live. On the other, I'm going to start going stir-crazy if I'm stuck at home for too long.

Showed up for the weekday job, had my single stage snow blower in the Suburban and a shovel. Looked at the 6' drifts that tapered to 3 foot and did the Bugs Bunny Jester laugh.
Fuck this nonsense. Yes boss man having your guy with the backhoe come in would be a FAB-YOU-LESS idea! Still took us 3 hours to open the place.

So they didn't get it quite as bad?

Think 18 inches or so is the most I can remember in a single storm and I was pretty young. We don't get it quite that bad. The folks up north on Lake Superior, on the other hand...

Though we did get over a foot of snow right after Christmas. My dad said that was the worst he can remember because it was so wet and heavy and mixed with sleet. Impossible to drive in and terrible to shovel. STG my back still hurts from that.

Storm gave me a migraine, so I spent Saturday being miserable. Took a nap after dinner, woke up at 11pm, and got ready for bed. A couple guys down the street did the driveway so I didn't even have to shovel much (just had to help my dad clear out the end of the driveway later after the plow came by again and dumped more snow there). Went home Sunday night to my mess of a parking lot, but it was in the mid-30s when I left for work this morning and a lot of what was in the road is melting.

I drove from the DC area to Pittsburgh on Friday. Had a weekend class, and no problem with the snow. Drove back to the DC area on Monday, no traffic delays. I had arranged for my driveway to be dug out so I had a parking space when I got home. I unloaded the car, got out my snow blower and was busy for several hours cleaning off the rest of the drive way, sidewalks, and an area in the back yard for the dog's necessary business. Today I just finished digging out my other car. I will now rest and tackle the stairs and deck behind my house another day.

This gives me hope that I'll be able to make it up to Philly to go to a wrestling show on Saturday. Though I'm waiting to hear back from the promoter to know what the parking situation may be like up there.

When you get up there avoid the Hulton Bridge. It is a bit unstable.

Was snowed in at a truck stop on I81. PENNDOT had shut the roads down, and it was chaos.

Cheeseheadland Central is gonna get hit in the next 5 or 6 hours -- has NOT even started snowing yet and they have closed 90% of the schools as of 8pm tonight.

and on top of that I have to find a way to pick up my car from the mechanics tomorrow (it decided to take a dump at work tonight).

My central Minnesota tundra is only supposed to get 1-3 from this storm. The wind seems to be the worst part of it.
