Well, my dad got back with a little bit of good news. Her containment has been lessened as when the meningitis was discovered level 2 biological procedures (negative pressure, full coverage over the body, airlock) so it's down to level 1 (no negative pressure environment, gown and gloves still necessary but mask, face shield are not required). She's still on respirator and her sedation has been lessened. When he said hi to her she opened her eyes slightly and dad thinks she tried to say something. He couldn't get the doctor because the doctor was swamped so we don't have a detailed information(they still don't know what type of meningitis it is, just that it's not airborne) but these are good signs.

She's still a long ways from recovery but this point I will take any good news I can get.

I want to thank everyone for their support and prayers. It really means a lot to me.

      Bit of an update.

She's doing better. They found three bacteria of the meningitis and that's it. They couldn't even form a colony out of it and they think it was dead from the antibiotics. To be certain they're sending it off to Winnipeg for analysis but we won't hear about that for about a week. Her condition is improving albeit slowly. They reduced the oxygen levels as well. All of these are good signs.

So baby steps but I'll take what I can get.

Well, an interesting day and an update. We got a call from health services informing us of what to watch out for as a possible meningitis infection. Basically if we felt unwell to go to emergency. Well I started to feel unwell so I went with my dad to the hospital and signed into emergency while dad visited mom. I was still in the waiting room when dad came back.

So first the update with mom. She's off sedation and they're waiting for her to get conscious to remove the breathing tube. Apparently she's kind of eager as well because when dad was up there she opened her mouth wide and ran her tongue around it trying to get it out in a manner described as my dad as "a horse trying to push out a bit". So that's some very good news.

Now as for me I got in, got my basic medical stats taken and the doctor checked me out. he then ordered a blood sample, urine sample, and chest x-ray. So I got those and then the doctor came back later and said there was blood in the urine. Cue me going from annoyed from waiting (the entire event was over the course of 8 hours) to scared. Well I was asked for a second urine sample, got a second reading of medical stats, and the doctor came back to tell me the first was a false positive. Outside of a higher than normal white cell count (attributed to a head cold) I was in good health and finally cut loose.

Welp, that covers it. I'm now going to deal with my night time stuff then going to sleep.

My dad just got back from the hospital. Still no change. She hasn't regained consciousness and the doctor had said it's still an "if" situation. It's just a waiting game now.

My dad just called from the hospital.

When he talked to her she opened her eyes and she keeps opening them every time he speaks. We're hoping but not certain that she's coming out of it. Fortunately her CT scans show no abnormality so it could be that she was just exhausted as to why she took longer than expected to come off the sedation.

Well, there's movement. She's twitching her feet and nodding and shaking her head. She's still fighting off the infections so she's still too weak to remove the air tube, but it's an improvement.

She's awake and relatively alert. She's trying to talk around her breathing tube and her kidneys are improving slightly. She's still putting most of her effort into fighting the infections but that's fine.

In all my years alive this easily is the best and most important Valentine's gift I could ever receive.

Dad just called, the air tube's been pulled out so she can talk. Naturally she has a sore throat from it so she's talking in whispers but but she is improving, bit by bit.
