  • On the contrary, which fictional death had you cheering?

Thought we could use an alternate list where you were SO EAGER for a rotten sh*t-stain of a character to die, and they did!

The Auditors, in Hogfather. I didn't exactly hate them, but in the book, and ESPECIALLY the movie, that was an awesome...uh...death. And Death.

Pretty much any villain in any Tamora Pierce book who ends up dead by the end of the story. She has a way of writing villains that just leaves one with a feeling of 'You are an exceedingly horrible specimen unworthy of existing and I can't wait to see you die'. Especially Ozorne. And the Dihanurs.

Mr. Morden on Babylon 5. Actually, it was more Vir's reaction to his death that had me cheering, but Morden had it coming.
"I look at the stars. It's a clear night and the Milky Way seems so near. That's where I'll be going soon. "We are all star stuff." I suddenly remember Delenn's line from Joe's script. Not a bad prospect. I am not afraid. In the meantime, let me close my eyes and sense the beauty around me. And take that breath under the dark sky full of stars. Breathe in. Breathe out. That's all."

Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd is the only one I can think off of the top of my head, but I can't count the number of times I'd be playing a video game and think about how I could possibly make a character's death as tortuous as possible.

And I'm going to keep bringing this series up (because I'm playing the games again for the 1000th time) but Reaver from the Fable series is one I would have LOVED to see dead, and my husband and I both played through 3 hoping we'd get a chance to kill him in the end. When that didn't happen, I played The Journey and hoped we'd at least hear news of his death. Nope. It appears he lives on after all.
The fact that jellyfish have survived for 650 million years despite not having brains gives hope to many people.

You would have to be incredibly dense for the world to revolve around you.

                  Mmm, yes. Definitely him.

I'm sure there were a few others for me; I'm just blanking on who at the moment.

An enjoyable event, especially if you knew them from the other books in the Diskworld series.

Another enjoyable death was that of Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg in The Fifth Element.

                      Let me see

Baron Harkonnen in the original Dune Book (and his Ghola in the series finale)

The project supervisor in the final Divergant book

Pres. Snow in the Hunger Games finale
I'm lost without a paddle and headed up SH*T creek.

I'm working on a story that has this type of character in it, I let one of my friends see what I have so far and he wants to know how she's gonna die. I told him I'm thinking about having her get hit by a car right after she lands on one of her sky diving trips.
