We seem to have 2 of everything, one on each end of town. Of course what we consider the other side of town is actually another town, but still....
We have that where I live too. Seriously, there are 2 Sheetz gas stations--one at each end of the borough. Keep in mind that the borough is a whopping 2 square miles. Then there are the four auto parts stores--Napa, Advance Auto, Pep Boys, and Autozone. They're all on the same road, and 3 of them are within sight of each other. Also in multiples, are the 4 grocery stores--Aldi, Giant Eagle (or "Gyunt Iggle" if you're from Pittsburgh ), Shop 'n' Save, and the IGA.

But, what really takes the cake? The two Mattress Firm stores. They're right across the street from each other. Who the *bleep* decided that was a good idea I could understand if one was the showroom or store and the other was a warehouse. But, they're both stores--same crap inside on both sides of the street.

WalMart. There are 6 of them within 15 miles of me with another one being built. 7 MORE for another 5 miles.
I can do better: I've got around 11 or so within ten miles of each other, plus around that many in the Neighborhood Markets.
Eh, one day I'll have something useful here. Until then, have a cookie or two.

In this town it's a toss up between casinos and bars. Seriously, there are at least half a dozen casinos in our town of about 30k people. Churches are another thing we've got LOTS of. There are three grocery stores all within half a mile of each other, but they're at least three different chains. We've got exactly ONE Starbucks in town, and it's in one of the grocery stores. Most of the franchise food places we've only got one of if there are any here at all (I miss Arbys). No movie theaters at all.

We had a couple of GameStops like that near me. There was one inside the mall and one in the shopping center across the street, and another in a different shopping center half a mile down the road. We actually didn't know about the one across the street from the mall until the one in the mall closed. Our first time over there, we asked the employees if the one that was in the mall had simply moved to the larger location across the street, but nope. That one had been open long before the one in the mall was. Go figure.

We're nearly surrounded by Starbucks. From my address, there are 3 within a 5-minute walk (6 if you extend that to the town line on two sides).

One of the Bucks has a Dunkin Donuts one storefront away on the same side of the street, I can't remember which one opened first (I want to say the Dunks was there first). Every so often I go by that way hoping for price wars of some form or another, but no luck

The town I work in is about 10 km2 with about 25,000 people. We have:

              Two Pizza Huts
              Two Domino's
              Two Papa John's
              Two McDonald's
Two Starbucks (one in a grocery store)
              Four 7-11's

The two Wendy's are actually both just outside town limits as is the one Taco Bell. We had two Dunkin Donuts in town but one closed and moved just outside the town limits; got a Duck Donuts now plus the one Dunkin.

No fewer than NINE Hotels/Extended Stays (plus two more just outside the town limits and plenty more within 3 miles) but as we're very close to an airport and the District of Columbia they do get a lot of business.

Lots of banks including two each of Wells Fargo and two BB&T.

Our lone 7-11 closed about 3 years ago, which was sad because it seemed to be doing a brisk business being right on the streetcar line and all. In its place is now yet another bank (we have...SIX banks in a two-block radius of the main intersection). A lone entrepreneur tried to fill the convenience-store gap with a larger shop up the road, but I think what sunk him was the rent. Pity; he was a genuinely nice guy who just wanted to make good and fill a need in the area.

The town in which I work has one major intersection with a bank on all four corners:

NE corner has a PNC Bank
SE corner has a Capitol One Bank
NW corner has a Bank of America
SW corner has a M&T Bank with both a TD Bank and a BB&T Bank just to the south of them...

Apparently we only have nine breweries. That's disappointing. It feels like more, because they're so popular and busy I guess.

I feel like we have a lot of grocery stores, but it's hard to tell. The town has just over 80k people. We have two Freddy's superstores, five grocery-only stores (like Winco and Safeway), two co-op locations, plus three other large hippie grocery stores (Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and and independent store), we have a Costco and a Cash and Carry, and another discount grocery store. We have at least six small international grocery stores. Also a Malwart. I have no idea if it has a grocery section, I haven't gone in, but I know the Target has groceries. Even with all these stores, they are all crazy busy.

The store in one part of town, a part that isn't as affluent, closed and there's some sort of non-compete clause so now that area has no straight grocery store. It has to rely on the 7-11 and Rite Aid. Nice.

I just remembered. We have THREE paint stores:

                      Sherwin Williams
                      Duron
                      Benjamin Moore

The odd thing is Sherwin Williams (which is barely two blocks from Duron) bought Duron and moved in. But the old store is still there as well, we guess waiting for the lease to run out...

It's like that here, except that the ubiquitous gas station is Kwik Trip. We have two main drags that run parallel and yes, there is a KT on each of them. Plus, the mall is in between the two roads and it has a KT in it's surrounding area (other businesses and hotels). Our town is maybe 2 to 3 square miles and yet I can throw a rock anywhere and hit a KT. I know some of them are technically the next city over, but seriously, within 10 square miles there are 15. I just looked it up; it's exactly 15.

We have all those auto parts places except Pep Boys. We have another, some Irish name. I go there but I can't remember right now.
