Why not make it a ninja pirate mmo if we are going to be making special orders? =p
Nothing less than a Pirate, Viking, Knight, Ninja and Cowboy MMO would be satisfatory.

Ooh, a gaming thread... full stop, disengage cloak. *ducks* Yes, Star Trek nerd somewhat.

Girl Gamer here... Current interests: WoW, FFXI, Diablo 2 (more like a long interest rather than current, but ah well), Sims 2, Super Smash Bros Brawl (addictive as hell if you can last through the finger/wrist cramps!), Requiem: Bloodymare (Beta Game, Horror... decent except for the bugs!).

And since it's late, my mind is blanking on me... I'm sure I'm forgetting tons more.
First: Marry me! You listed the three games I've probably spent the most time on (WoW, FFXI, D2).

Second: On Requium: Didn't you realize that the bugs are part of the horror experience?
    >ShadedWings hits the Shoggoth Lord for 28 points of damage
    >ShadedWings Kills the Shoggoth Lord!
    >Shoggoth Lord drops MegaRareUberCoolLewt+5!
    >Connection lost to server...
    <Demonic Laughter>

    It's very Meta.

In doing some additional research I think Warhammer might appeal to me more than AoC.

WoW is the only MMO i have ever played that I feel less like playing the more I play. Every other MMO has just pulled me in more. What sucks is that in leaving one MMO for another, unless they go with you, you leave your MMO specific friends behind.

One game I love is Mount & Blade, an indie title originally developed as an experimentation into the much lacking of medieval mounted combat, since then, it's grown somewhat, a major plus point being the modding community, there are few games I can think of where mods can range from Lord of the Rings to Star Wars, Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000, the crusades and lots lots more.

Not defending sony mind you, as I've seen them trash so many MMO's. But sadly, the issues in PotBS were due to FLS.
Ah, still, I have mixed reactions to PotBS. Because it had so much potential but was marred by coming out too soon. Another 3-6 months and it could have been really special. =/ Seriously, how can you screw up pirates?

So it's still Age of Conan for me until Warhammer Online hits.

We need a Ninja mmo now. ;p

The ship side of things was really well done but the boarding, dueling etc was really underpolished and kind of tacked on. Of course half of that is Sony's fault I'm sure.
Actually, Sony delayed it for improvements. I was in beta when they announced they were releasing it in 3 months (pre Sony buyout) The fighting mechanics were just being started and there was a horrible number of alpha class bugs in the game. Maybe about 10% of the quests were working right. Heck, when a critical port goes PvP and the devs say "oops", it's time to walk away.

Rushing things is not limited to Sony alone though. It happens to all kinds of games all the time, thanks to greed>quality. If Sony wasn't producing games like Vanguard, someone else would, with likely the same result.
Sony has a bad habit of picking up MMO's in development then shovin' em out the door. No it's not limited to them but they've pulled it more then anyone else

Thinking about it, I can't name one single MMO that had a good, uneventful release. 0_o It's one of the reasons I don't judge a MMO until 6 months or so after release. Seriously though, is there an MMO that released well (in comparison with games in general not just in comparison with disastrous MMO launches).
Dark Age of Camelot, City of Heroes, City of Villains, Lord of the Rings Online, Age of Conan just off the top of my head.

They're a plague on practically every MMO they touch because every MMO they pick up ends up being shoved out the door too early. Remember poor Vanguard? Another 3-6 months of dev time might have saved it.

They did shut down a couple of servers recently I already played on the 'top' server so I didn't have to move- thankfully. The merges brought some really great opponents for us and also some really great allies.

Well, yesterday I picked up mass effect for the pc. I'm having a blast with that game (even through I'm not fond of FPS RPGs). It was the only game that interest me on the 360 and now I don't have to get one.

I can't wait for the custom mods that people will put out for the pc version.

I beta'd that for a while. I loved the ship to ship stuff but I found the actual out on foot combat to be pretty lackluster on every level. How is it holding up anyway? I remember they had to shut down some servers due to lack of player population a couple months back.
Well, the AvCom is probably about the same- some changes have been made to it I'm sure. The game was never really about that though- it's about SHIPS. I rarely deal with AvCom.

There are a lot of people who had been "bored" and left the game have returned now because the fight is back ON. There also seems to be new folks arriving all the time.

FLS has also been very good about adding new content, careers, missions, ships, etc. every month. Matter of fact- I'm here right now because the server is down for a new content patch.
I also can't complain about the service. The one time I had a problem I submitted a Support Ticket I had a GM literally drop on top of my boat in his boat within minutes. Snap- my problem was solved haven't had one since.

I will never, ever, ever buy a PS3. If I won one I'd eBay it. -.-

PS2 was great but it obviously went to the their collective heads judging by how well they managed the PS3. ;p

My coworker use to play that Hotshots Golf on his Sony Brick at work. Then he bought my old Nintendo Brick DS off me. >.>

Seems like the vast majority here has XBOX360. Am I alone in wanting one, but wanting to get a PS3 first?
Just personal taste, don't worry. I picked up the 360 first because it had games I wanted to play (mainly RPGs). The PS3 is finally catching up, so I picked one up on the cheap when they introduced the new line. I'm looking forward to the new Sly Cooper, and a few other things. I still havn't seen enough good (to me) games on the Wii to warrent shelling out the bucks for one. The controls have potential, but I think Nintendo is letting too much crap through right now.

I also have a DS and PSP, and I love both dearly. For some reason, I'm addicted to the PSP Hot Shots Golf. I've scored -22 on the first course before, and I'm on my third time through it, collecting all the clubs, balls, and accessories. It just feels good to play, and I usually hate sports games.

Ooh someone mentioned Okami! That game is Grrrrreat!
I thought I was going to be put off by the art style (it's not an art style that seems like it would translate well to being in motion) but it actually worked really well and set part of the mythical/mystical mood for the game. The brush mechanic is a lot easier than I thought it would be too as a non-artistic person. Fun game! ^^
