  • Didn't want to thread jack ...

... but in Lupo's thread (http://www.customerssuck.com/board/s...ad.php?t=44887) there was some discussion about hamburger places not delivering. I got to thinking about it (thinking about random things is kind of a hobby of mine apparently ) and could not come up with a valid reason why, with the proper packaging, there couldn't be a place that delivered hamburgers and such.

So I come to the experts. Can anyone think of a valid reason why this would not be a good idea for a business? A hamburger place that delivered! Imagine! I would order from there a lot as long as they had decent burgers. Why has this not been done?

Well a lot of pizza places do have burgers on the menu, so that's always an option; and a *ton* of causal restaurants have a curb side take out, so there's another option.
I think it might boil down to profit--pizzas generally cost more than burgers (especially when there's a delivery min so you end up getting two when all you want/need is one...), and dine-ins are always hoping you'll cave and add that sickly sweet dessert to your bill, so it might not seem worth the time and money to start a franchise that only delivers burgers or sandwiches.
Not to mention think about how well a pizza/chinese food travels versus a well made burger. Yes with the proper containment it won't get all mushy and sad looking, but that would probably impact the price and in the end it would just make more sense to go to McD's for a cheap burger or Chili's for a nice juicy heart attack.
*shrugs* That's all I can think of....and now I'm hungry

Whenever I've travelled, the local hotel/motel usually has an ad for a place that will deliver from any of the local food shops. For an additional charge, you call them an order, and they place the order with the burger joint, go get it, and bring it to you.

So someone's sort of doing it ...
