  • Two great tastes...

...that taste weird together. Or, at least according to S.O. they do.

So occasionally I get food cravings. Nope, not pregnant. Here's some of 'em.

Fresh red bell pepper and ranch dressing
Neapolitan ice cream and cinnamon-flavored chocolate syrup
A big bowl of pasta, without sauce of any kind- maybe a bit of salt.

When I was little, any kind of flat, starchy food would always get dipped in whatever I was drinking at the time. Didn't matter if it was crackers and milk, or oreos and orange juice. The food went in the drink at least once before it made the trip to my mouth.

Anyone else got stories of weird food combos that they love, but which garner funny looks from friends/family?

When I was little I used to put slices of American cheese on peanut butter sandwiches.

I like the red bell peppers and ranch dressing as well

beyond that I don't have any tastes that others might consider odd.

I used to do the plain pasta thing too. As much out of lazyiness as any other reason, but it tastes just fine!

Bah, red bell pepper and ranch dressing is just part of a veggie platter. Nothing strikes me as weird about that. (Of course, just about everyone I know would only go "ew!" because they don't care for bell pepper, not because of the combo.)

          How about....

Mandarin orange slices (from a can) and ranch dressing, sometimes with a bit of soy sauce
Powdered lemonade mix stirred with the peanut butter on a PBJ sandwich (more of a when-I-was-a-kid thing)
Strawberries and goat cheese (tastes great on a wrap this one local shop used to make)
Cheese slices dipped in Miracle Whip (may not seem so odd; it's a cheese sandwich without the bread)

My mother was big on strange food combinations. One of her strangest was:

Pickle and Onion sandwiches (sliced each, with butter)

A friend of mine came up with, and I make them occasionally make one myself, is what he dubbed a german pizza: German sausage and sauerkraut.

I have to say, I like them all.

when I go out for breakfast I like to order eggs over easy, hash browns, ham, and sausages. Then I mix them all together and pour maple syrup over it. ... I get some really weird looks... but I think it's tasty. ^_^

I've done that. Also, I would dip bread in my chocolate milk.

My father would put salt on fruit. Said it made it taste sweeter.

A friend of mine would make peanut butter & bacon sandwiches.
                      I never tried it, though.

My husband makes faces at me when I mix cottage cheese with yogurt. It's good! Peanut butter and butter are awesome together on a sandwich, too.

                            Cheese and marmite.

Other than that I'm pretty boring! I do however like the sound of the plain pasta, Yummy!

I prefer my pasta with a little butter and some parm cheese.

As I've said before, I like Peanut Butter & mayo sandwiches. I've also recently tried (and has been added to my menu): Peanut butter, mayo and banana sandwiches. Yummy!

for after thanksgiving snacks: slices of turkey on a plate with a blob of mayo and I just dip the turkey in the mayo.

My Memo (my mom's mom) used to make left-over stuffing sandwiches.

I will eat cold pizza and cold stuffing (though not together).

I will also make Mac & Cheese and add hot dogs or tuna and a veggie of some sort. I did that when I was living by myself. it stretched the mac & cheese dish and I've have 1 dinner and at least 2 or 3 lunches out of it.
