      hm ...

      cottage cheese and hungarian half sharp paprika
      cut up baked potatoes and a1
      cubes of tofu nuked until hot with a1
      a dollop of hummus on cold spaghetti or macaroni mixed up well, sort of a funky pasta salad

      and a classic - rye bread, sliced braunschweiger sausage, sliced sweet red onion but no mustard, mayo and some nice crunchy butter head lettuce. People cant seem to get over the thought of eating liver =(
      EVE Online: 99% of the time you sit around waiting for something to happen, but that 1% of action is what hooks people like crack, you don't get interviewed by the BBC for a WoW raid.

        How could I forget the cottage cheese and paprika serving? I love to add paprika to my cottage cheese!

        And I love sliced braunschweiger (which I smoosh a little when putting it on my sandwich) on bread - but since I don't like rye, I put it on other bread (namely wheat). I usually put mayo on the bread and braunschweiger and smoosh the bread together. Yummy! Now I want some braunschweiger.

          I'm sorry but most of these don't sound too normal. Of course when I mention similar foods to some of my coworkers they think I am nuts (such as the cheese and peanut butter). Maybe I just don't get it but many food combos do not seem that far out there.

          That being said when I was young I used to eat the all condiment sandwich: butter, ketchup pb&j, cheese, mayo.

          My wife and I ate sausage with peanut butter wrapped in a tortilla- very good .

          However, the weirdest combo I ever ate, even my wife thought I was crazy, was at a party in which I put on a cracker sandwich: ham, cheddar, spinach dip and a bit of cake frosting. It tasted really good; the frosting added a sweet touch to a normal sandwich which made every other person's stomach turn. I just thought they were all weird and for some reason all the cowards didn't want to try it.

            You know what makes a peanut butter and mayo sandwich better? Lettuce. Seriously. Adds a nice cruchy texture.

            Another good use for creamy peanut butter is to smear it on whole Kosher dill pickles. Delicious.

            As for liverwurst, the best way to eat that is to slice rounds of it and grill it about a minute per side. Then do the rye bread/red onion, etc.

            Peanut butter + butter on toast = awesome

            Salt on melon = awesome x 2

            Sharp cheddar cheese melted on apple pie = awesome x infinity

            Frosting on saltine crackers = greatest thing ever invented

              Spaghetti sandwiches - buttered bread with thin spaghetti (vermicelli or angel hair), preferably with Ragu Traditional sauce.

              And for dessert, Breyer's mint chocolate chip ice cream mixed with maraschino cherry syrup (with several cherries thrown in for good measure). Yum!

              Not a combo, but when I was little my mom called me Picklepuss - Vlasic dill pickles were my favorite snack. I could eat a whole plateful.

              My brother is weird. He does not eat spaghetti sauce or gravy. (I think he was switched at birth, since the rest of us fight over the stuff.) He eats pasta with butter, and shakes off as much sauce from the meatballs as he can. But when we go to the Olive Garden, he gets chicken parmesan and eats the sauce, no problem. He also eats baked potatoes with nothing but a little salt, no butter. But he puts butter on mashed potatoes.

                  While that seems counterintuitive, your father is correct. Salt brings out the juices of produce (I won't explain the scientific reasoning here), so adding a little salt to your veggies or fruit will bring out their natural juices, hence making them taste sweeter. That is why I now add salt to my salads, where I used to only use salt in cooking, never using it as an additive on my food. The key, of course, is to just use a little salt...if you use too much, you are just going to taste salt.

                  Another one a former coworker got me to try, which I love, is a baked potato with a little butter, some bacon, and ranch dressing. Tasty, tasty, tasty!

                  Someone mentioned their love of pickles....I not only love pickles, but love those sour pickled tomatoes. I have a gallon jar of them in my fridge (long boring story). LOVE them, but they will make you pucker like no one's business. They are SOUR!

                  My "odd" combination that people get weirded out by is eggs and beer. Yes, kids....eggs and beer. I say that not because I am a drunk, but because they go really well together. Many people who have questioned me on this when I am out having breakfast and order a beer as my drink have been forced by me to try it. Every one of them has admitted that, damn it, beer DOES go well with breakfast, especially egg breakfasts. Try it. You'll like it. (This only applies to people who like beer, of course.)

                  Speaking of beer, I had an amusing experience at a bar a while back. I was there watching sports, eating good food, and drinking beer. I decided I wanted dessert. So I ordered a lovely caramel cheesecake and a glass of milk, since beer does NOT go with caramel cheesecake! The guys next to me looked at me like I had grown horns and a tail and a third arm out of my chest. "Weren't you just drinking beer? Now you're drinking MILK?!??!" My reply was simple and to the point: "Yes. Beer does not go with cheesecake. Milk does. Y'all really wanna be grossed out? Ya know what I'm gonna order once I'm done with this dessert? Another fucking beer." They were horrified and confuzzled that I could so easily switch between beer and milk. What can I say? I'm gifted like that!

                      Jester, I am a former college student and I do not like cold pizza or pasta and never have (unless said pasta is meant to be cold, like my mommy's pasta salad with tuna...yummy). So there.

                      I'm the one who mentioned pickles. I hate tomatoes (unless they're liquid in sauce...it's mostly a texture thing)...don't think I'd like 'em any better if they were sour and pickled.

                      My roomie and I were just talking about root beer floats and I was reminded of another good combo - ginger ale with rainbow sherbet (works with Sprite or 7-Up, too, but ginger ale is better). Does sherbet come in pints? I'ma hafta look when I stop for milk tomorrow...

                      My dad puts salt on cantaloupe. I know why but I always thought it was weird. I've never actually tried it.

                        This x a MILLION!! Pickled tomatoes are a must-have at any catfish place worth its salt. *sigh* That's one of the biggest food things I miss about home. Stupid Midwest. (At least I finally found a decent BBQ joint!)

                          True story: a while back I was hanging out with my friend Harley in a bar. Somehow we got to talking about cold pizza and pasta, and she said it sounded gross, and that I was weird for eating it. Apparently she thought I was unique. I told her she had obviously never gone to college, as all most college students loved it. She thought I was nuts, so I went about illustrating my point. I went around the bar asking people if they went to college, and if so, what they thought about cold pizza/pasta. And damn if every single one of them didn't say something along the lines of "Oh, I LOVE cold pizza and pasta!" Harley was suitably stunned.

                          Cool recipe for those who want a nice refreshing summer drink: get a blender, and throw in some Midori (or whatever melon liqueur you have on hand), some Sprite, and some lime sherbet. Awesome.

                            • Pickled eggs (shell hard boil eggs and drop 'em in your left-over pickle juice for at least 2 weeks) with A1 sauce (with beer on the side)
                            • Cottage cheese with raspberry jam
                            • Freshly made crepes with fresh lemon juice and just a touch of sugar

                            Not all at the same time, mind you, but on their own, yummy!!!

                            Now I'm hungry!

                              Me too! My addiction was Claussen's (do they still make pickles?).

                                Favorite snack as a kid was potato chip and mayo sandwiches.

                                A classy breakfast was crumb coffee cake with liverwurst smeared on it instead of butter. (I think that's a German thing).

                                Cold left-over rice with a little soy sauce and sesame oil.

                                Grilled cheese sandwich with French dressing for dipping sauce.

                                Lurrrve cold pizza. Cold pasta, not so much.

                                Our version of a shandy: Half beer, half American-style lemonade. Only lightly alcoholic and very refreshing on a hot day.

                                We've also recently discovered the delights of grilled salmon with peach jam.
