That's Canadian money, so in real money that would be....what....$3.50?
With your economy right now, more like $65 ^^

    Well, ok, $54. <cough>

Does she chase laser pointers at all? Do you have a ceiling fan? If so, I suggest combining these two. Tape a laser pointer onto the fan and turn it on.
Yeah, I have a laser pointer for her too. But its a small one so it eats batteries fast and only takes watch batteries. I really should pick up a full size one. However, I find the novelty of having her chase it doesn't last near as long as her interest in it. -.-

I can hover the thing pretty well now without barreling into anything, but its still a sort of contained "try not to crash" pattern" as the thing is unwilling to just stay in a general place.

The cat, however, has resumed hiding from it and giving it accusing looks.

Just ease up on the throttle and don't let the throttle control go all the way up. I have the cheaper version (without aft looking fans) and that's how I get it to hover.
I have a...thing. Wanna see it?

Believe me I am. This thing is insanely sensitive though. Even the slightest half millimeter off and its back into the ceiling or the floor, heh.

Helicopters and Cats: (And damn glad I am that I'm not the only one to have thought of this!) For me it was just practice practice practice. If I'm very subtle about getting it down off the shelf I can usually land it on one of their heads before they wake and go crazy. Beats the heck of the RC car that they always heard coming. (No, it isn't a crime to wake a cat in the middle of the day. What's good for the goose.... )

re Cat shooting. Potatoes might be too hard, and air softs probably aren't edible. Can't see what harm a marshmallow would do though.

@Jester: Besides the quote GK gave you, their dollar was hovering around par with ours even before the recession. Go Canada! And of course, exchange rates against a float currency don't mean much anyway - it's buying power that matters.

This thing isn't sneaking up on anyone. The sheer amount of wind flow the rotors give off is pretty surprising. I can feel it from 10 feet away when its hovering. I think she's mentally associating it with the vacuum cleaner and taking cover accordingly. ><

If I wear a fighter pilot my callsign would be "Lawn Dart". ><

Anyone have one of these things or attempted to fly one before? I slowly getting the hang of it, but damn. Harsh learning curve.
In keeping with the trend of other people assigning call names to people, I dub thee "Oh Shi-"

Considering its general altitude and my level of piloting skills, I'm pondering changing it to "OH GOD MY EYE".

OMG, that's pure evil! I wish we'd thought of that while Catbutt was still alive...he'd chase the laser pointer for hours.

This is the one I have. Handles pretty well. Can't take the bastard outside with any real wind though.

I've found that getting the thing in the air quickly is the most effective means to pilot the things. It takes a lot less effort on the motor to keep it up than to get it up. All I can say is find a relatively open area and practice until you get the hang of it.
