So my mom's birthday is tomorrow. I made the cupcakes this morning.
Y'all can see where this is going, right?
Well, the cupcakes cooled down nicely, so I figured I'd go ahead and frost them now, that way I wasn't taking time tomorrow that I need for the 5-hour drive.
It's about 80-90F in my kitchen on a day like today. There's a window, but no cross-ventilation. The tip I used (225 drop-flower, for those in-the-know) has very tiny openings to create a fairly delicate result. I was spiraling out from the centre to make the cupcakes look like flowers, and it was working!
Until I realized that the bag was starting to feel...a bit mushy. A bit TOO mushy.
And then I looked at the last few cupcakes. And then the few before that.
I need to re-do about half the cupcakes tonight, when the kitchen isn't *quite* so warm. They're just a puddle of frosting. DAMN!
And of course I was rushing, because I only had a half-hour before work, and I wanted to get them done and put them in the fridge to get them away from the cats. Who will, for some odd reason (they've *never* had people food), go after buttercream frosting. And only if it's vanilla. I've made lemon, chocolate, and strawberry, but only the vanilla attracts them.
*sigh* Guess I'm not getting out early tomorrow morning. I really hope I don't hit weekend traffic.
