Raid does some crazy stuff to you. When I was about 12 my little brother who was about 7 decided it would be really funny to jump out of the bathroom and spray me with raid. Within about a half hour I got tunnel vision and then everything went blurry, got hot flashes and cold sweats and started puking my guts out for a few hours. Probably should have gone to the doctor, but I didn't. If that's just skin contact I would hate to see what happens from ingestion.
I hope they find some other way to keep the fruit bug free other than raid. It's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care. -Office space

I was always under the impression that wherever the produce is grown, that safe pesticides are used on the crops before they are shipped off to a grocer.
Using Raid to clean the produce must mean budget cuts to the extreme...You really need to see a neurologist. - Wagegoth

I don't think he was operating on SOP. Good call on contacting Krogers. But yeah - it's still a good idea to wash fruit before eating it.The Case of the Missing Mandrake; A Jude Derry, Sorceress Sleuth Mystery Available on Amazon.

I don't have much experience with food crops, since Dad always grew cotton, but the EPA (or FDA or some governmental something or other) does regulate what kinds of pesticides and herbicides can be used with which kinds of crops, at what stage of the growing process they can be used, and how they can be applied. Really nasty stuff can't be applied via crop duster, because wind could carry it away from the intended crop; they have to use hi-boys. I would imagine that the rules concerning food crops would be tighter than those for, say, cotton.Quoth blas87 View PostI was always under the impression that wherever the produce is grown, that safe pesticides are used on the crops before they are shipped off to a grocer."Even arms dealers need groceries." ~ Ziva David, NCIS

Fly spray is nasty stuff. What it effectively does is prevent your muscles from relaxing, so they keep contracting. This is why when you spray a fly it buzzes even more 'til it hits the deck because all the energy stored within it has been used.
I think I'll pass on that fruit cheers.
