My boyfriend is a large cat (Panther) but also identifies with Coyote and Raven as Spirit Guides.
A friend did a reading on me and identified me as a Lycan (she herself was an Energy Vampire). She also believes that you have a sort of spirit self that exists on another plane and can interact with the spirit selves of other people. You have to concentrate to see your spirit self, and even more to discover its/your name.
Ever since then I've identified myself as a Wolf, but I can have Fox-like tendencies!"If anyone wants this old box containing the broken bits of my former faith in humanity, I'll take your best offer now. You may be able to salvage a few of em' for parts..... " - Quote by Argabarga

Are otherkin welcome as well?
For spirit animals, after much searching I cannot decide if mine is a butterfly or cat. I am leaning toward cat but not dismissing that I may have two I identify with.
P.S. LillFilly - That makes sense, since both are canine. c: Although I know they are distinctly different in temperament and such.

I just re-found a forum I had joined awhile ago, and lost the link for over numerous browser migrations. But here it is again

Quoth Hyena Dandy View PostIndeed.
I know a lot about hyenas, but I won't bore you here.
^_^ I'd love to hear about it. I'm always looking to learn more about any animal I find interesting. You can PM me about it.
^_^ Yey.... but I always feel a bit uncomfortable discussing that one with people...Quoth Pairou View PostAre otherkin welcome as well?
Glad it is welcome though."I'm not smiling because I'm happy. I'm smiling because every time I blink your head explodes!"

I once tried to explain therianthropy to my shrink...didn't work too well ("are you telling me you think you're a wolf?"...NO, you're not listening to me) so I don't even bring it up anymore. She thinks I'm just a furry which is fine."I am quite confident that I do exist."

I'm the odd one out I guess, I tend to take 2 distinct forms when I visit the spirit realm.
Eagle
Dragon
But I tend to associate myself more with the dragon side of me, and people have told me they swear they see wings on my back when my anger is really riled up.It is by snark alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of the coffee bean that thoughts acquire 'tude, the lips acquire mouthiness, the glares become a warning.

*looks around innocently while batting at a string dangling off the desk* I'm very much a kitten... Well, a neko is probably more like it.. I don't fully identify as a cat, but have very kittenish qualities... And once i get them, i'll even be wearing ears and tail at certain conventions i go to..Quoth JoitheArtist View PostI used to come home from work to find her perched on the arm of a couch; I also discovered that if I toss a ball of yarn across her path, she will drop what she's doing, leap onto the yarn, and bat it around the room.
Usually while cursing at me for making her waste time.

I feel mostly in tune with the black leopard (i.e. panther) and snow leopard are mine. Yes, I am quite a solitary person. I also have feline tendencies such as:
I've been known for pawing at hanging objects, chasing lights on walls (laser pointers and reflections) as well as growling when pissed off. I even purr when content-- and these are all things I have very little control of.
The weirdest of *ALL* changes? I am extremely attached to my cat, Patches. She's my familiar and I love her to death. I am so attached to her that my features have started to change (I now have a patch of white hair on my eyebrow just like she does and I have a similar white patch of skin on my right cheek. The shape of it is rather uncanny to hers.)
I suspect I have a deer totem in there too. I have found that when I am in distress or in need of guidance a deer will show up. It is the ODDEST of sights to see a deer in the middle of the city but it has happened. The strange thing is I don't really feel the same attachment to the deer as I do with the catfolk. -shrug- Maybe I have someone in my life who is one and guides me occasionally. I don't know.Last edited by AnqeiicDemise; 01-19-2010, 06:08 AM."The problem isn't usually that there are stupid people in the world as much as it is that the stupid people like to call or come in and point out how stupid they are to the working public" -Justa

Okay folks..what do you do when your totem or Otherkin is made of steel? I've been something of an urban animist ever since I was a very young child, sensing the personalities of Skyscrapers. I've since branched out to airplanes, ships, large cranes, and great bridges. One plane that flew me from home to JFK airport asked me if I could read the clouds like her kind could. When I said not yet, she got a bit irked. "Ack, do those skyscrapers teach you anything, girl?"
On another trip, I got an Embraer jet who just loved to talk about sex. Apparently JFK airport is one massive booty call on the astral plane, and even my hometown's airport hangars are not safe!
Sometime in 2008 I had a dream where my consciousness merged with that of the Golden Gate Bridge- I was in his massive steel body! Since the anatomy of a suspension bridge is so different than that of a human, it was a most unusual sensation. My awareness seemed to be focused mostly at the center span area, and it felt as if I were laying on my back, but my head was facing downward. A massive container ship passing under me called out, daring me to stretch my arms out to the bridge towers. I tried, but was unable. I sensed Golden Gate saying "Not yet, my girl."
At one point in the dream, I thanked him and San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge- because of them, I had learned to appreciate and love the two bridges in my own hometown's harbour.
I have a friend who is furry, and wolf is his totem. His last two SO's have both been foxes!Last edited by Amanita; 01-19-2010, 08:49 AM.
