  • So...whatcha reading?

Right now I'm finishing up "The Concrete Blonde" by Michael Connelly, and will move on to "Mind Scrambler" by Chris Grabenstein as soon as it arrives (which will hopefully be today!)

    ...and you?

I'm reading a 'Twilight Zone" anthology book. It has some really strange stories. It's based on the tv series.

I am currently reading Broken Sky, a delightfully bad anime-in-book-form from Scholastic, and Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell.

I think I'll reread Night Watch next.

I've just read another of the CSI novels (Headhunter) and I'm re-reading Terry Pratchett's The Lost Continent.

I got a note today to say there are some books at the library for me to collect including Pratchett's "Thud" and Dan Brown's "The Lost Symbol."

I'm also reading Chandlers "History of Martins Bank" and Hartley's "History of Yorkshire Banking" for a local history project I'm involed with. Also I'm working my way through a set of diaries written from 1870-1910 about day to day life in our village. Fascinating stuff. Honestly! I've just got to the point where the mill foreman got drunk and "contrived to get his head stuck between the bars of the mule's pen. Several teeth were kicked from his skull before his shouts were heard and a rescue was effected."

Oooo...I love THUD! It's easily one of my favourite Diskworld books.

I'm currently working on a series by Robin Hobb, first book is The Assassin's Apprentice. Also on the table right now is the Sword of Truth series - I've finished Chainfire (book 9) and am waiting for books 10 and 11 to get here so I can finish it (finally).

I also have a couple of Ursula LeGuin books on order at the library, though they don't normally carry her work, beyond Left Hand of Darkness and the Earthsea series, so I'm not holding my breath.

Other than that....Hm. Mostly just industry books. Wine Bible and so forth.

Just finished: Inarticulate Longings: The Ladies' Home Journal, Gender, and the Promises of Consumer Culture by Jennifer Scanlon.

Tonight I have to read: Pseudolus by Plautus, Reasons to Be Pretty by Neil LaBute, another chapter of The Necessity of Theatre by Paul Woodruff...and that's it. After I grade quizzes, post grades, and log attendance, of course.

                        Um....help?

Just Finished "Sunshine" by Robin McKinley.

...really not sure what to read next... maybe I'll try to finish House of Leaves...but probably not... So in all honesty it will end up being one of the trashy romance novels i have read like a zillion times. XP

Have you read Juliet Marillier's Sevenwaters trilogy? I just finished them, and liked them a lot. The pace is slow, but her character development is worth it. The books are Daughter of the Forest, Son of the Shadows, and Child of the Prophecy.
