Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

I am home now, my sister and I driving back last night, and I spent today catching up on things I needed to.

Before we left, we spoke with the Neurosurgeon who explained the extent of her brain damage.

She has extensive damage to her brain. Not only is her brain extensively bruised, but deeply as well. He showed us the latest CT scans, and they showed bleeding (bruising) as deep as her brain stem.

They plan to take out the pressure monitor today, and wait until she is stable enough for them to leave her alone (and unattended) long enough to do a full MRI on her head and neck. Only then will they know the full extent of the damage, but the prognosis does not look good.

IF she wakes up, it is unlikely that there will be anything of "Her" there. More than likely, from what we've been told, she will need breathing and feeding tubes to even remain alive.

None of us want that for ourselves, including her. IF that is the determination, life support will be terminated.

If she does survive without life support, it is unlikely that she will be in there mentally.

As I said, not good, and that is an understatement.

Update:

They were able to do a full MRI yesterday and the damage to her brain is worse than they feared. They feel the only option to keep her alive will be to do a Tracheotomy and keep her alive with air and food running to her through tubes. More than likely, she will never wake up.

She was very adamant that she didn't want to live like that (and really, can you call it living?) so the plan is that Sunday, when as many of us who can get there will be close, they will turn off her respirator.

I cannot afford to make the trip as the first one put my checking account into the negative, and I have another week to go before payday. My older sister and her husband (and perhaps my nephew and niece) will be going out to be there.

I've canceled my game night for Sunday. I don't think I'll be up for it.

I'm not looking for handouts, but the thought is appreciated. Going out would also require me to take a night off, which I cannot afford to loose. It's a viscous circle.

Besides, Services will be in a few weeks, which gives us time to prepare.
