I'd like to throw in UT (Texas, not Tennessee)/OU. Around here, even people who don't like sports watch the game. Or maybe I just know too many alumni

I just can't imagine how crazy it would be if it wasn't held at a neutral site.

In college football, the University of Wisconsin and the University of Minnesota is the oldest, most played rivalry in Division 1-A (or FBS).

They play each year for a trophy called Paul Bunyan's Axe. I saw it at the Wisconsin State Fair a few years ago. It's pretty impressive, but I dared not touch it.

In college basketball, Wisconsin has a big rivalry with Marquette University, which just stole away one of our best recruits. It's ON. I used to root for both teams about the same but refuse to root for Marquette much at all since their big nickname fiasco a few years back.

The Raiders are not any other team, and specialize in idiocy. A lot of Raider fans are apologists for Al Davis. I am not. I think that, while he was great for the team for decades, he is doing a number on them, basically ruining them, and probably is too senile to realize it. I have said for years that the Raiders are just like Cuba....cause ain't nothin' gonna change till the old man die.
Note to Dallas Cowboys fans: The same thing is probably going to apply to you in a few years as Jerry Jones get older.

By the by, the Washington Redskins are absolutely hilarious right now. They just turned over their offensive play-calling duties to a guy who'd been working as a bingo caller in a senior center in Michigan. What, the guy who runs the VCR on movie night wasn't available?

Speaking of Phillies fans, you should have seen the death glares I was given when I answered people and told them I A.) Hate the Phillies and B.) Love the Yankees.

In addition to USC/Notre Dame, there's also a more local crosstown rivalry with UCLA.

That may well be the oldest rivalry, but the oldest trophy for a rivalry game is the Territorial Cup, awarded to the winner of the Arizona State-Arizona game. Amusingly, it was lost for decades until someone found it in the basement of one of the ASU buildings a few years back. I don't know the whole story, but I am sure it would be easy enough to find on the net.
