Valve has stated numerous times they are going to keep offering support/updates etc. for L4D1.
Yes, I know. Thats kind of the problem I pointed out to begin with. 10 months. 1 new campaign. Even TF2 has a turn around of about 3-4 months average for major content patches ( Which are vastly more than just new maps ). It's also a third of the price if that and has 50 times the replay value. L4D1 is a lot of fun for a bit, but gets repetitive pretty quick with the slim release content.

if you want free stuff so badly, go get the PC version where you can have user created maps/mods etc.
I have the PC version. The SDK and custom campaign support was not released/added until 6 months after release. I do not want "free stuff" as you put it, I want enough content to merit the original sticker price which was equal to a full retail game. Not much to ask.

it just seems L4D has people in arms screaming 'too soon too soon'
I'm not screaming, I'm just saying they sold L4D1 as basically a proof of concept. It was great fun sure, but not worth $50, but people bought it citing the potential and the promise of new content to flesh it out and "finish" the game so to speak. Content that never emerged and the initial lack of an SDK made developing user content extremely difficult. Instead the content they developed was shifted forward to a sequel within a year of the original. Which comes across as money grubbing.

I honestly doubt 1 and 2 are going to get equal loving. The Left 4 Dead team lacks manpower already. Valve had to shift the entire TF2 team over to working on Left 4 Dead to finish it. They had to do it again with L4D2. Of course in the meantime work on TF2 halts.

They're spread thin, so 1 or 2 is going to be the favoured child probably. I imagine it will be 2, as its the shinier one. L4D1 content updates will likely be L4D2 content ported back. Which is a simple enough task with the Source engine.

Neither one should have been sold as a full retail game, and if 2 must exist, it should have been sold as an expansion me thinks.

I got L4D1 through Gamefly and purchased the used edition eventually for 20. Would I have paid a full 50 bucks for it new? Probably not. 20 was just right for a stress relieving distraction.
    Thank you. -.-

sorry wasn't necesarrily saying YOUR the one screaming about it being too soon just seen about 1000 posts on other message boards (that are more video game oriented) with people going on about how it's too soon and it's gonna stop all support/servers for L4D1 etc.

so far i love the 2nd one. much more hmm... thourough i guess then the 1st one.
only issue is the dedicated servers have HORRIBLE lag lol but that'll be fixed soon i hope.
Common sense... So rare it's a goddamn superpower.
