As a few of you may recall, I lost my job back in April when the company I worked for shut down all of their stores in the D.C. area. I've been unemployed ever since, and have been having a very hard time even getting companies to return my emails/résumé submissions. As for actual INTERVIEWS? Forget about it, no one has truly seemed interested in talking to me.
So, last week, out of desperation, I pulled something off the back burner that I'd been keeping there as a contingency plan: I contacted the area's largest, most well-known mattress store chain. Their reputation isn't as good with customers as the last company I worked for, so I was reluctant to work for them. But after being unemployed like 7 months, this crap was getting ridiculous, so I had to choose the lesser of 2 evils.
I had my interview Monday, and the D.M. that interviewed me was very impressed by my knowledge and my background. He called me last night (it took a few days for the mandatory background checks and stuff) and told me I'm hired! I start Monday morning!
Now I just hope the good luck lasts for awhile and rubs off on some other areas of my life where it's also needed. *crosses fingers and toes*
