  • FINALLY some GOOD news for me for once! ^_^

As a few of you may recall, I lost my job back in April when the company I worked for shut down all of their stores in the D.C. area. I've been unemployed ever since, and have been having a very hard time even getting companies to return my emails/résumé submissions. As for actual INTERVIEWS? Forget about it, no one has truly seemed interested in talking to me.

So, last week, out of desperation, I pulled something off the back burner that I'd been keeping there as a contingency plan: I contacted the area's largest, most well-known mattress store chain. Their reputation isn't as good with customers as the last company I worked for, so I was reluctant to work for them. But after being unemployed like 7 months, this crap was getting ridiculous, so I had to choose the lesser of 2 evils.

I had my interview Monday, and the D.M. that interviewed me was very impressed by my knowledge and my background. He called me last night (it took a few days for the mandatory background checks and stuff) and told me I'm hired! I start Monday morning!

Now I just hope the good luck lasts for awhile and rubs off on some other areas of my life where it's also needed. *crosses fingers and toes*

                Thanks everyone!

The first 2 days have gone well. So far I'm working with good people and the boss had made it clear he's fast-tracking me into the Store Manager position at one of the better stores in the area.

                      Thanks Cat and Cutenoob!

So, this week, I'll be working Monday-Friday doing a week of training at our corporate HQ, which is over 50 miles away from where I live, so the company's going to be paying to put me up in a hotel. I'll have my laptop with me (and my BlackBerry's always on my hip, LOL! ) but I've been told to expect to be working long hours. So if I'm a bit scarce on the forum this week, that's why.

Well, we'll miss you, but this is a good thing. Hopefully your customers are nicer than Kusanagi's were!
