Sign of the apocalypse

Popped over to see my mother tonight. He started on Monday. Yesterday he got called into the break room with everyone else. Apparently it was a five-month contract, but four-and-a-half months had gone by the time he started. He find out tonight if he's staying for more than two weeks.

I knew it was too good to be true.

Seriously.

He was actually hired by an agency that assumedly gets a financial award for every person they actually recruit. Makes no odds to them if it's a week or twenty weeks for the person.

Ah, I get it. The contract had been going, and the agency recruited him in to it, knowing it was already almost over.

That sucks, both for him and for you. For you, because he's unlikely to want to bother trying for a new job, and can point to this as "see, that's what happens when I try."
