What's your thermostat set at? (whiny, ranty)

It's 7 degrees outside and my heater only works when it feels like it. Management thinks that if they just relight the pilot light and leave it'll be fine... Yeah, doesn't work. Normally I stick it at around 68. I'm cheap and have a low tolerance for heat. The bf likes it warmer then I do, but he knows I'll kill him if he turns it up.

There is something wrong with my heat.....downstairs is an ice box, upstairs is too warm.....and I cannot control the heat on diff floors. Look like I'm getting a space heater

Thermostat is set at 50 fahrenheit, but it is much toastier than that as I made french onion soup on the woodstove yesterday, and we have a beef stew starting for today. Tomorrow is going to be lasagne made in the baking oven portion of the woodstove

outside is about 6 inches of snow, and a deleriously happy husky playing in said snow, and grumpy chickens hiding in their coop.

I love my geothermal heat pump. Keeps the house at a constant 67F all year, and lets me kick back and not worry about gas or electric bills because of how it's designed.

Also, for a house with the 'new part' having been built in 1902, there's some cold spots (near doors, and the north wall), but overall the place is very comfy. And big.

I'mm because I identify with you. I'm afraid to go above 65 because of what it'll do to my electric bill. Sad, isn't it?

We keep the thermo set at 63-65 during the winter. I had a roommate that kept it set at 75. I thought I would roast. It killed my sinuses, too. I am so glad that DH likes the same room temp as me.

It snowed her Saturday and I didn't turn the heat on, I guess I have good insulation. I did turn it on Monday overnight but it's been off since then.
When I was a dormatory director the building I lived in had two heat settings On and Off and no one in the building including me had any control over it. Heat was steam/hot water radiators. Some rooms were luckly in that their valves worked and they could turn them off but the feed and return pipes were still there. In some rooms on the first floor the floors were so hot you had to wear shoes or it would burn your feet. In just about all rooms had fans in the windows blowing in and it was below freezing outside.

My lease has a clause about not letting the heat go too low (at least 40) which is really unnecessary, seeing as how the complex controls the baseline heat in the building. If it gets that cold, it's their own fault.

At my current apartment, the minimum during extreme cold weather or long periods of absence is 70 F. I know that sounds high, but gas is actually pretty cheap here and better safe than sorry. This is also just a 4-plex, not a big building of a lot of connected apartments.

Yeah, yeah, I live in Florida. It was like 85 or something today. It's a bit insane. Yay for cooler weather coming in tomorrow!!!

Yeah, I have a knob, too. At least it's labelled (goes from 1-8). Only reason I know the temp is because we have a thermometer. Not to jinx it or anything, but I'm actually pretty comfy right now.

Heh, all this is reminding me of my last roomie. She had never lived in an apartment before. She wanted to turn the heat off at night. And while we were gone for Christmas break. It took me a very long time to explain to her the concept of "water pipes bursting = bad." Yes, gas bills in Kansas City are atrocious, but DAMN. I am not wearing a coat....inside.
