  • Doctor Who End of Time *spoilers*

So it finally ared (in UK I mean). Those of us in the US have a few more hours (unless you watched it online ). So thoughts? comments? How long you cried? etc.

I gotta say when he said "I don't wanna go" I almost lost it. I'm gonna really miss David Tennant.

On the bright side Matt Smith looks promising. Geronimo!

So anyway, farewell 10th Doctor. You were brilliant!

I really liked it. I was somewhat dubious given how the master was ressurected and what not but overall it was good.

My only "hmmmmm......" moment was the farewell tour semed somewhat mawkish and one has to wonder if it was more to boost RTD's ego since no other regeneration has dragged out like that but on the other hand it was a slow lingering death.

I still say his cheek structure make him look too thin but around the end of the episode I was let down by Tennant's "death". After all the things they put him through it was kind of a let down.

      Two questions though:
When did Martha and Mickey get married? I thought she was engaged to someone else and he was living in a parallel universe.
Also, does anyone else think that woman was a certain red head we know and (well me at least) love?
How was I supposed to know someone was slipping you Birth Control in the food I've been making for you lately?

Lets hope that this doctor lasts for some time as he only has two regenerations left now.

Overall I thought that it was a good episode and that the farewell was a nice touch.

We got to see a trailer for the next series and it looks like the angels from the blink episode are going to be back.

I thought it was ok. I'm not keen on the new master. Time lords' return was almost an after thought. Regeneration was long and overly sentimental. But enjoyable.

It has been confirmed angels will return.

Not sure about this new doctor. When he said his line during the trailer that he was The Doctor, I quietly pouted "No you're not."
We all have a special place in our heart for our first Doctor. All others are a mere distant second to eleventh place.

Personally I thought the woman was Donna, I like to think she gets fixed eventually.

Yeah I thought she was engaged to someone else too. But I know Mickey returned from the parallel universe back in the Series 4 finale.

From what I hear from various sources, it's the Doctor's mother.

I guess I probably shouldn't have read this since I haven't seen any yet but, I've been seeing lots of stuff about dr who lately and I want to start in on watching it. Any recommendations on where to start? Also I looked on hulu and bbc america, but couldn't find any episodes to watch, just short clips. I tried to watch on bbc uk site but it told me it wasn't available in my area. Any other sites to watch it on?

Overall, I liked the episode. I hope they play fast and loose with the Time Lords returning bit, and allow a few more old-time characters to return (Romana or The Rani for example). It would add some nice new storylines.

I do think the tour of past companions was kind of drawn out, but I can accept it given the characterization of this Doctor.

Martha wasn't in the alternate universe, Rose (the blond girl just before he finally changed) was. That was the reason why, when he saw her, it was before they had actually met.

As to their getting married, it happened off screen as far as I know. I don't remember them hooking up, much less getting married. Last we saw of them, they were kicking around with Torchwood...

Out of curiosity, what redhead are you thinking of? At the moment, I can't think of one.

Netflix has Doctor Who (2005) series 1, 2, and 3 on Instant Play and series 4 on DVD. They also have several episodes from the old Doctor Who on Instant Play.

Actually I meant that Mickey had been there, not Martha.
I guess it was off screen but the part that confuses me is that she was engaged to someone else so why'd she marry Mickey?

I meant Donna, I would be amused if the strange lady was her.

                        Some thoughts....

Anyone else think the Lord President was an arrogant douche? And wonder how such a blowhard came to be in charge of the Time Lords? Seriously? I say
The Doctor did everyone a favor by sending him back to oblivion.

Tennant was awesome, and Smith has some huge shoes to fill. If he wants some advice, I would suggest he call Steve Young or Aaron Rodgers. (American football fans will understand the comparisons.)

I am wondering how, if ever, they bring The Doctor's daughter back, incidentally. Surprised they did not do it during Tennant's run.

And of course The Master will be back, as he and the Daleks always seem to be. And yes, they are classics, but good lord, can't the producers come up with some NEW enemies for The Doctor, rather than finding new ways to resurrect the old ones that were "finally" destroyed so many times before?

This was news to me as well, and in fact, it took me a moment to realize it was Mickey. Martha looked a bit different as well.

As for Mickey, he stayed in the non-alternate universe at the end of Season 4, as has been pointed out.

Yes, but....as we all know, the DW people are not above playing fast and loose with their own rules. I have no doubt they are currently working on a way to go beyond 12....if they haven't already.

By the way, anyone else find it amusing that Time Lords are supposed to only have twelve generations (or is it twelve REgenerations, which would give them 13 generations total?), and The Doctor, who is 906 years old, has gone through so many of them in such a short time?

Absolutely overdone and, to me, completely unnecessary, as he has said his goodbyes to just about everyone. The lottery ticket with Donna was especially trite and silly, if you ask me.

Which I think is a bad idea. How can you possibly improve on "Blink," arguably the best (at the very least ONE of the best) DW episode ever?

I started thing that she could be Romana.
Okay, someone clue me in....having never seen a DW prior to the Ninth Doctor, who the hell is Romana?

A time lady companion of the 4th Doctor. Played by Mary Tamm and Lalla Ward (who married Tom Baker). Departed the Tardis with K9 after refusing to return to Gallifrey.

Steven Moffat wrote 'Blink', and is the new producer, which might explain why they are returning.

So then how did K-9 end up with Sarah Jane Smith?!?!?

I know he fixed up K-9 after that school got blown up, but how did K-9, who left with this Time Lady, end up with another one of The Doctor's companions?

By the way, on another tangent from a new Doctor Who fan, if we have two Time Lords named The Doctor and The Master, have we met OTHER Time Lords (other than the Lord President)? And if so, what were their names/titles?

I think I would make a killer Time Lord. I am, after all, The Jester.

The Doctor sent K-9 to her in K-9 and Company (1981). It was the first spin off from Doctor Who.

In the old series, there were many trips back to Gallifrey. In Arc of Infinity, Part 2, they return to Gallifrey, where they are met by Commander Maxil (played by Colin Baker), who shoots Peter Davidson. What an audition.

As for the Red Head, my first thought was that it was Susan.
