Let's see... predictions for 2010... I'm not much of a sports guy but I'll postulate a few events...

    1) In the tradition of the "Balloon Boy" and the "White House Crashers", someone else will do something stupid to get their own TV reality series... and die trying.

    2) "Avatar" will win many technical awards at the Oscars, but there will not be any new movies filmed with the same technology for the next few years... studios won't be able to afford it.

    3) A major movie studio will go bankrupt. I have no idea which one, but it seems likely to me.

    4) The Phoenix Coyotes will fold. The NHL will ask Jim Balsillie to buy the team and he will refuse because they won't let him move it to Canada.

    5) "The A-Team" movie will be a big hit.

    6) An independent wrestler (that is, not working for the WWE or TNA) will die during a hardcore-garbage-deathmatch.

    7) Reality show fatigue will strike the networks. Shows will be cancelled and the time slots will be filled with game shows (because the networks will not have time to find new series to fill the void).
"Kamala the Ugandan Giant" 1950-2020 • "Bullet" Bob Armstrong 1939-2020 • "Road Warrior Animal" 1960-2020 • "Zeus" Tiny Lister Jr. 1958-2020 • "Hacksaw" Butch Reed 1954-2021 • "New Jack" Jerome Young 1963-2021 • "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff 1949-2021 • "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton 1958-2021 • Daffney 1975-2021

      Predictions for WWE:

Jericho will continue to be kicked off RAW every two weeks, the crowd will continue to realize that brand separation within the WWE is a joke, Jericho will stop even pretending to be sad when he gets kicked off.

John Cena will get a title rematch with Seamus, and one of two things will happen:
      A) Cena will win a relatively good match, setting up a "Tiebreaker Fight" that might actually be fun to watch.

      B) Seamus will win another tables match, because that's the only way to get Cena to sell a loss.
Either way, it will be performed in a stadium lit only by a blacklight, and Seamus's pale-as-pure-snow complexion will cause many viewers to go blind.

Do... do you watch Spoony? "The only thing Cena sells is merch"?

I do, and I also watch (some) wrestling matches, and spoony does tell it right when it comes to Cena.

I just realized how likely it is that Cameron will get a Best Director Oscar again, and act like a complete douchebag on stage again and that Tarantino might get shafted again.

            And it made me sad.

On the plus side, it's not like Tarantino isn't a douchebag. (And yes, I'm a fan.)

They're making an A-Team movie? Really? Hopefully not with the same actors! Or it would be the AARP-Team!

Well, yes, but he's a very talented douchebag and that Oscar is looooong overdue.

I've not watching wrestling more than once or twice since about 2002, and I was rather shocked at the number of names I recognized in Spoony's rants. I may have to see if I can find a source to start watching again just for the trainwreck value. Here's a wrestling prediction: TNA Impact goes down the tubes due to Hogan and cronies.

Overdue? Yes. He has earned one.

Long overdue? Hardly. Dude has only made, what, eight movies? The argument could be made that it's not even overdue. Just that he's been robbed once or twice.

To this day, I am pissed that Mr. Holland's Opus didn't win for best picture, and the only reason I didn't firebomb the Academy that year is because MHO lost to Braveheart. Not exactly like it lost to Gigli.

Well, there are a couple of reasons for that. One, Spoony is right about them tunnel visioning one guy to the point that non-wrestling fans know at least the name, or maybe just recognize the face from the obnoxious ads. Two, Spoony is also right about them keeping the same talent for a cubic crud-load of time, not the constant cycling of talent coming in and out like with other sports. Three, they're bringing back OLD talent instead of finding NEW talent. We have returned to wheelchair wrestling.

Yeah, and if memory serves, the year he was up for Pulp Fiction was the same year Ron Howard was up for Forrest Gump. So, yes, that makes sense. Oh, and he has directed 7 movies, if you count Kill Bill as two movies.

                          You haven't heard?

Liam Neeson as Hanibal, the guy from "District 9" as Murdock, and MMA fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as B.A.

No, I had not heard. It seems its release date is three days after my birthday. I have no doubt that my friend Frank, an A-Team junkie, is going to try to drag me to this movie that weekend. I am not sure if this sounds like a good or bad idea yet.....
