They sell Vanilla Coke at the c-store on my campus.Quoth tropicsgoddess View PostOooh good one! I sure do miss Vanilla coke. Damn I want some..or a cherry vanilla at least.
Lemon Pepsi is amazing. If I ever want that, I usually do what Jester suggests and throw a lemon in a glass, then pour the soda and let it soak for a few minutes. Stir, then drink!"Kill the fat guy first?! That's racist!" - my friend Ironside at a Belegarth practice after being "killed" first.

The only flavoured cola I really liked was the Cherry Coke/Pepsi. Oh, and there was a grocery store brand in Canada that had chocolate cherry cola for a little while. That was amazing. They don't sell it anymore, but cola with a shot each of cherry brandy and creme de cacao is an adequate substitute.

Psst, hey Broom, go to Superstore and get their President's choice "New wave" cola (blue can) It will give you an idea of how it tastes. Pretty good actually.Quoth Broomjockey View PostNever saw Lemon Pepsi.
I miss Pepsi Blue though. Also Crystal Pepsi.

I don't get PC soda since I opened a can and saw a sheen of some kind of oil reflecting a rainbow back at me.Quoth lordlundar View PostPsst, hey Broom, go to Superstore and get their President's choice "New wave" cola (blue can) It will give you an idea of how it tastes. Pretty good actually.

Depends on how it's made. If you run with half concentrating (aka more water and not boiling it as long) and use homemade vanilla extract you will get a much different result.Quoth Jester View PostI'm no expert, but I don't believe that vanilla syrup is simply simple syrup with vanilla flavoring. For one thing, it's not as sweet, for another, it's not as thick. I make simple syrup often at The Bar (we make our own--as was said, it's just sugar and water!), and that stuff gets THICK.

Hrm...tempting. $4.50 for a bottle of syrup at the store, or less than $1 to make it myself at home. I'll have to try to fiddle with ratios, and try that lordlundar. I don't have homemade vanilla extract, but I get the pure stuff from Whole Foods. That should work, yes?Quoth lordlundar View PostDepends on how it's made. And Sarah, glad you liked it!! Now I've got a hankering to head out and buy some soda, for the sole purpose of making cherry cola.

I should point out that, despite what many bartending books say, you actually don't have to boil the water with the sugar to make simple syrup. At my bar, we merely fill a container to the appropriate level with sugar, then add the hot water from the tea spigot, put the lid on the container, and shake the hell out of it. (Anyone who has worked in a restaurant is familiar with the hot water spigot for tea off the coffee brewing machine.) If the water is significantly hot, this will work.

No, they're not. Normally I prefer Pepsi over Coke, but Cherry Coke is better than Cherry Pepsi.Quoth Becks View PostCherry Coke and Cherry Pepsi are NOT the same!!
But Cherry RC is better than either of them, as it uses real cherry syrup and tastes wonderful! Now if I could only find some around here...!I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.
