It's a Barnes and Noble Bookstop, I believe, corner of Shepard and Alabama. Look for the old sign for the Alabama Theatre, it got converted into the store, which is why there's so much space.
The one in the Alabama theater closed a few months ago and they built a new two story one in River Oaks.

Thanks for the info on the big Half Price store!

I don't know about Houston, but in nearby Galveston, there is a waterpark and the Moody Gardens.
Yeah there's a lot to do in Galveston. Only one problem, the island is like an hour and a half drive from downtown Houston. Not to mention the drive to all the different sites. Galveston isn't a small island.

I thought I mentioned it in the OP, but looking back, I realized I really didn't. He will be staying right downtown in one of the main hotels, and he has a car, so he can get anywhere. For bars, though, I have been trying to steer him towards the downtown scene....it wouldn't look good with his company if he got busted for a DUI. Especially since he is based in the Middle East. (He is enjoying a lot of booze and pork right now on his return to the States!)
Yeah the cops around here really crack down on DUI's big time. Well I Don't know much about the night life up there so I guess I'm out of any suggestions. Though I can recommend some good dining, like the Spaghetti Warehouse (mmhmm).

I have got to go there!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's awesome. Though parking in that area can be quite a hassle. But trust me, if you go to Rice Village you're gonna buy something at one of the businesses guaranteed. It's is impossible to resist.

It's a mile north on Shephard--by the two Starbucks across the street from each other. There's a bus that runs on Shephard, so all hope isn't lost!

HPB yes, the one in Rice Village. the old Alabama theatre is the other bookstore, a B&N Bookstop now. Two different two story bookstores. Frickin' huge. I'm not allowed in there by myself. EVER. >.>
So if we should see a giant scrat trying to tamp a bus-sized bag-o-books into the bus, that's Lupo? (or me!)

We should go to one together one of these days. That way we both meet the qualification of not going into one alone, and we can supervise each other whilst we buy books.

                    Win/Win!!

                      Yeah we'll "supervise" each other.

More like we'll keep recommending books and authors and leave with more than usual.

Not that I'm complaining of course.

So we'll see Dateline: Houston "... Police are trying to discover how 17 METRO busses were packed full of books, collapsing the suspensions and exploding the tires..."

That's what I meant. Now I'd be more than happy to store some of them for you.
