    Ok, here come the pics!!

First, the prep for the party: a friend and I drew a line to mark the radius of each paper plate, and wrote Pi = r2 on each one. That wasn't enough, of course--we also diagrammed the Pythagorean Theorem on the napkins!

And since we'd be watching The Big Bang Theory, I replaced our usual "welcome" sign with a homemade "Bazinga"!

Here's my Shoo Fly Pie and Apple-Bacon-Roquefort pie (apparently, I had a hard time with the honey-drizzling part)

One friend had spent an hour writing out Pi to about a thousand places on this roll of paper! We used it as a decoration for the drinks--I need to think up something cool to do with it.

        And then...there was PIE!

By the time the last person arrived, we had: quiche, mini pizza-pies, lemon mousse pies, "Crack Pie", Shoo Fly pie, Apple-Bacon-Roquefort pie, Oreo pie, and lemon meringue pie.

Notice that one friend even put her pie in a Pi plate.

Then we settled in and watched some of the best episodes of Big Bang Theory. Only one of my friends had seen much of the show, and everyone really enjoyed watching it.

So that was Pi Day at Joi's house!

I was very upset most of the day. I was stuck eating Chinese food and doing my Human Genetics midterm. Then I had to pick my friend up at the train station at 7pm. The train was delayed for an hour so I was stuck waiting in my car in the rain for an hour.

Then one of my friends texted me saying some of our friends were going to the diner so I went with them. Got some warm blueberry pie.

Which means I need to learn to make chicken pot pie.
Chicken Pot Pie with Cornbread Crust

            Ingredients:

            Filling:

            1 Tbsp. olive oil
            1 Tbsp. unsalted butter
            1 medium Onion , chopped
            1/4 cup flour
            2 cups chicken stock
            2 cups chopped Roasted Chicken
1/2 cup frozen sweet petite peas
1 potato , diced and boiled
1 1/2 cup chopped, cooked carrots
            1/2 tsp. salt
            Cracked pepper
            Dash of Tabasco® sauce
            Crust:

3/4 cup white or yellow cornmeal
            3/4 cup flour
            1 Tbsp. baking powder
            1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
            1/2 tsp. salt
            3/4 cup milk
            1 large egg
            2 Tbsp. canola oil
To make filling: Preheat the oven to 400°. Spray a 2-quart casserole with cooking spray. In a large sauce pan, heat olive oil and unsalted butter together. Add onion and sauté until tender, about 4 or 5 minutes. Add in flour until blended. Slowly stir in 2 cups of heated chicken stock, whisking well. Cook mixture over medium heat until thickened and bubbly, about 4 minutes. Stir in chicken, peas, potato, carrots, salt, pepper and Tabasco®. Pour into a 2-quart ovenproof casserole dish coated with cooking spray and spread mixture evenly.

To make crust: In a bowl, stir cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Stir milk, egg and canola oil until well combined. Stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Spoon the batter evenly on the filling. Bake until the top is golden brown, about 22 to 25 minutes.

I haven't actually made this yet, but I really really really really want to.
